LG G Pad 2 said to be powered by SD-805 SoC, coming this October

The specifications of the LG G Pad 2 have been leaked, thanks to known leakster Leaksfly, who posted the details on his Weibo page yesterday.

According to the leak, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 805 chipset with quad-core CPU and Adreno 420 GPU, and sport an 8.3-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. Going by the screen size, this could well be the sequel to the G Pad 8.3 (shown in the image above), which was released back in October 2013.

Moving on, the tablet will come with 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable internal memory. In terms of camera, it will feature an 8MP rear unit and a 5MP front shooter. The device will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Leaksfly also said that the G Pad 2 will be released in October. There was, however, no word on its pricing, as well as the markets where it will be released. Needless to say, none of this has been officially confirmed, so take it with a pinch of…

There’s An Inconvenient Hole in the Climate Forecasting Map

England’s head scientific adviser warned recently that increased demand for water and energy, and a warmer world, may combine to create a ‘perfect storm’ of “public unrest, cross-border conflicts and mass migration by 2030”, with developing regions hardest hit: “there’s not going to be a complete collapse, but things will start getting really worrying if we don’t tackle these problems,” he noted.  Doesn’t this sound familiar?  In large parts of the Middle East and Africa things are much worse than worrying.

Fallout Shelter officially launching on Android August 13

We’re all well aware that iOS often gets apps first, despite Android being huge these days. It’s a shame, but it’s a fact of life. This was the case with Fallout Shelter, a mobile game by Bethesda Studios that was made to build hype for the upcoming game Fallout 4.

However, we finally have a release date for the Android version! It should launch on August 13th. Plenty of people are already excited, as iOS folk have very much enjoyed the game. You manage a vault of your own, trying to keep order and keep your citizens happy.

Mir 0.14 llega a la rama de desarrollo de Ubuntu Touch

En los últimos tiempos se viene siguiendo con mucha atención todo lo referente a Mir, el servidor gráfico en el que Canonical se encuentra trabajando hace tiempo y que despertó muchas críticas por parte de la comunidad ya que se le cuestiona no haber decidido colaborar con Wayland en lugar de lanzar otra alternativa. Pero en la compañía tenían planes muy ambiciosos para su distro ya que la idea siempre ha sido la de lograr la convergencia para Ubuntu, es decir que pueda ser utilizado tanto en ordenadores como en tabletas y smartphones.

Así las cosas, es interesante la llegada de Mir 0.14 a la rama devel de Ubuntu Touch (es decir, a las nightlies de Wily Werewolf), ya que aunque esta sea utilizada más que nada por usuarios avanzados y quienes se ocupan del desarrollo, todo apunta a que pronto llegará también al canal estable, y con ello a los usuarios en general. Así lo asegura Lukasz Zemczak, uno de los desarrolladores en jefe de Canonical, quien comentó que el trabajo es arduo para que esta versión del servidor gráfico también llegue a Vivid Verbet.

Entre las novedades que llegan en Mir 0.14 podemos mencionar las correcciones al teclado (ubuntu-keyboard), además de una importante actualización a la aplicación de Notas, que en unos días también pasará a estar disponible para los usuarios de la versión estable ya que será publicada en Ubuntu Store. Luego se corrigen numerosos fallos, como los que afectaban al momento de cambiar de redes 2G a redes 3G, o el de la ubicación incorrecta en algunos casos, y para finalizar Zemczak también avisa que esta semana es la fecha límite para la llegada de GCC 5, por lo que también se está trabajando en esa implementación para que en pocos días ya se la pueda probar en las nightlies.
