Samsung Gulf now says no Lollipop for Galaxy Note 8.0

Just a week after it said that the Galaxy Note II won't be getting Lollipop, Samsung Gulf has now revealed that the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet will also not receive the update. The subsidiary made the revelation in a reply to a query on its Facebook page (see image below).

However, Samsung's decision to not update the Note 8.0 could be region-specific, given that the South Korean company's Spain and Denmark subsidiaries have already confirmed the Android 5.0 update for the Note II. But to be sure, we'll have to wait for other Samsung subsidiaries to reveal their update plans for the Note 8.0.

YU Yuphoria Amazon page, teaser videos go live

An Amazon page and a duo of video teasers for the upcoming YU Yuphoria smartphone went live. The Micromax subsidiary will unveil the smartphone in a couple of days, on May 12.

The Amazon page allows interested users to sign up for updates on the availability of the smartphone. YU Yuphoria will be exclusively sold by the online retail giant when it becomes available.

The video teasers on the other hand, suggest that the YU Yuphoria will feature solid build quality, as well as a powerful loudspeaker (stereo speakers will not be a surprise either). See them below.

Previously known as Project Caesar, YU Yuphoria will pack 64-bit SoC, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in memory. The handset will boot Android Lollipop customized by Cyanogen.

In March, Alabama announced it would start taxing streaming services like Netflix and Spotify the same way it taxes rental stores that deal in physical discs. The law says that the state will levy a 4 percent tax on rentals of “tangible personal property.” So in order to tax a Netflix subscription, Alabama’s tax collectors have been forced to argue that streaming movies are somehow exactly that — tangible.

OnePlus actualizará su OnePlus One para corregir los problemas de la pantalla táctil

OnePlus se ha convertido en uno de los fabricantes de teléfonos inteligentes que más llamó la atención durante el año pasado y que también tiene pinta de que lo haga durante este año. Gracias a su OnePlus One, el terminal estrella del fabricante, la empresa con apenas unos años de vida se ha convertido en una de startups más valiosas en el mercado chino.

Mientras el usuario, entre los que me incluyo, para que nos vamos a engañar, estamos esperando al OnePlus Two del cuál se ha filtrado el precio y el procesador, que será un Snapdragon 810, la empresa no para de darnos noticias para que hablemos sobre ella. Si no hace mucho veíamos como la primera generación de su terminal recibía oficialmente Android Lollipop y que más adelante se anunció la separación con el grupo de desarrolladores de Cyanogen, apostando fuerte por su versión modificada de Android, Oxygen OS, ahora toca hablar de una nueva actualización que vendrá a arreglar algunos fallos.

Con tantas actualizaciones del software han salido algunos errores muy molestos para el usuario sobre todos el sensor táctil de la pantalla del One Plus One. Es curioso ver que estos problemas persisten ya que, vienen desde la salida de este terminal y que parece ser que la compañía no ha podido solucionar con el paso del tiempo, aunque recientemente han comunicado que subsanarán el problema tan pronto como puedan.

Este problema ha sido comunicado por diferentes usuarios en el foro que hay sobre el dispositivo en la propia página web de la empresa. No es un problema que afecte a todos los usuarios pero si que hay una minoría que tienen a su terminal con este problema táctil. Un problema que podría ser propio del hardware y no del software ya que, como bien comunican los usuarios, el dispositivo se ha actualizado desde que salió y el problema sigue estando ahí.

Sin embargo, desde OnePlus, confirman que eso no es así y se trata de un problema entre la pantalla táctil y el software. Por ello, los desarrolladores de esta empresa están trabajando conjuntamente con Synaptics para solucionar el problema de la pantalla táctil. Esta solución llegará tanto para la versión del sistema operativo de Cyanogen como para la versión exclusiva del terminal chino, Oxygen OS, aunque el fabricante no ha dado más información sobre cuando llegará esta actualización.
