With the recent announcement of the retexturing of iron blocks, obsidian, birch wood and bricks, it feels that 1.13 will also be a texture redesign oriented update alongside the internal technical reform.

Two blocks, acacia leaves and dark oak leaves, have been neglected for quite a while, having to rob their texture from regular oak leaves. Which kind of sucks. They each need a unique texture.

Here are two proposals from a while ago that I feel fit pretty well:

Dark Oak

Granted I could just use a texture pack to replace the respective textures by myself, which I've actually already done by the way, but by that logic Mojang should just not bother retexturing stuff in 1.13 and instead release the texture files themselves and give us the option of injecting them into the game manually.

Anyways, that's about it. Let's hope this gets considered.

Creative input is difficult to balance. And while some may enjoy it, others don't. I'm glad to say as a Minecraft player, the ability to EDIT textures has always been in my hands, thank you Mojang for continuing to allow this.

That said, I'm in love with 2 textures in minecraft. One is an item, the other is a block. The block in question is the obsidian block. It's currently the only block that combines black and purple together in a flattering manner. All of my chess boards, library floors, ballroom floors, Nether Decor, use Obsidian due to it's rich compliment to block of quartz. Applying what was recently shared (and yes, it's a preview, not the full release : http://ift.tt/2uygmqz) turns the shimmering Obsidian into a black wool with soot looking block.

Understood, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and that birch looks delicious!). I am sharing what my eye sees, and hope that you're able to, if not able to remain as it is, then to alter obsidian in a way that maintains the dark shimmering purple that is currently enjoyed.

If realism is what is being sought, then what we have now is stellar. I enjoy Minecraft's take on Obsidian so much due to my own brief encounters with the rock. It's hard to show an AMAZING of a rock Obsidian is. It's not just frozen (liquid to solid) Lava, it's frozen at such a speed and consistency that the crystalline structure of it is MINIMAL. It's this that gives the glassy appearance. If you've never ventured far north you may not have had the chance to experience 'clear ice above depths.' While the ice is transparent/slightly blue, looking down, all you see is an inky blackness. This glossy void warns the casual viewer to what the sky would look like if all stars vanished.

So why write this? I honestly believe Mojang has had a great relationship with their community starting with when Mr. Persson actually responded to our individual inquiries and messages before and during Secret Friday updates. While I have shared what I see in the current texture of Obsidian, I write this to hope and see what you, Mojang, and some of the community see as well.
