Specs leak for the two Moto X models coming this year with modular backplates

Back in December an image leaked that was purported to be of the next-gen Moto X. It didn’t look very credible, being outed so far in advance of the phone’s unveiling, but a subsequent leak from just a few hours ago has confirmed the design of the next Moto flagship, which will come with a full metal jacket.

Now though a new report comes to shed some light on the specs. First off, though, consider this – the phones depicted in the renders you can see below aren’t the same handset in two different color versions. In fact, they’re two different smartphones. And both will carry Moto X…

Alleged OnePlus 3 shows up in live images

OnePlus isn’t strictly following a one-year update cycle for its top-end smartphones, the One was announced in April 2014, and the 2 went official in July 2015. So whenever the OnePlus 3 arrives, it’ll be on time, but rumors point to the end of this month.

Anyway, an alleged working unit of the OnePlus 3 has surfaced in the hands of a user, who shared the experience on Weibo. The rear appears to be the typical sandstone affair, though perhaps with a touch finer texture, or at least that’s what the low-res spy shot suggests.

What’s not at all in line with previous models is the camera…

HTC Q1 results are in: drastic revenue fall of 64%

HTC posted audited financial results for Q1 2016 today confirming the massive 64% drop in revenue year-over-year. Revenue for the period starting January 1 until March 31 was a catastrophic $463 million (NT$14.8 billion) compared to Q1 2015’s $1.3 billion (NT$41.52 billion).

Operating loss for the quarter stands at $150 million (NT$4.8 billion) compared to a profit of $11.6 million (NT$360 million) for the same period last year.

HTC was late to the 2016 flagship rumble by a few months and, as a result, the HTC 10 sales aren’t included in the earnings report. Revenue from the Vive…

Apple iPhone 7 measurements the same as the 6s

The iPhone SE launched some debate over phone size, but the Apple iPhone 7 will be exempt from it – measurements from a schematic show the new model will match the size of the 4.7″ iPhone 6s down to a tenth of a millimeter.

On the diagram, the 7 measures 138.30 x 67.12mm. The thickness is not given, but the 6s is 7.1mm – Apple’s thinnest phone yet, but not its thinnest device (the iPod Touch is 6.1mm).

The 3.5mm audio jack appears to be safe, but that was never an issue for thickness (as the iPod shows). For the sake of the battery, we’d be okay if Apple kept the 7.1mm thickness of…

Next-gen DROID and Moto X images leak

A trio of images featuring two of Motorola’s upcoming devices were leaked on Google+ by user hellomotoHK. One of them is the next DROID for the US carrier Verizon, and the other the next generation Moto X.

Starting with the DROID, the first thing that you notice is the back with the striped pattern. It seems for once Motorola and Verizon will offer some sort of customizable back plate instead of the same old boring black designs that DROID devices have always had. The back also has a raised camera, with a design similar to the Moto 360, where the bottom bit is cut off from the rest…
