Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) gets fully revealed in leaked renders, specs outed too

Samsung is getting ready to add a new member to its Galaxy Tab A family of slates in the near future. It will be called Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016), and unsurprisingly you’ll see it sporting a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

The Wi-Fi-only iteration of this device will bear the model number SM-T580, while the LTE-capable unit will be the SM-T585. In fact, we’ve seen the T585 in a benchmark back in March, which is how a few of its specs got made public. Now a new leak brings us official renders for the tablet, as well as a full picture of its innards.

The Tab A 10.1 will have 1,920×1,200…

Honor V8 launched: dual 12MP cameras, 5.7″ display, Kirin 950 SoC

Huawei just pulled the wraps off the Honor V8 flagship at a launch event in China. The smartphone brings some Huawei goodness to the Honor sub brand, namely the top-end Kirin 950 chipset and the dual-camera setup on the back (though no Leica branding here).

The Honor V8 sports a 5.7-inch display and you get to choose between FullHD and QHD resolution – Huawei finally caved in, after long refusing to go beyond 1080p. Both variants use IPS panels and have a 2.5D glass on top.

The Kirin 950 chip we already mentioned comes with an octa-core CPU (4xCortex-A72 + 4xCortex-A53 clusters)….

Samsung unveils 256GB microSD card, shipping in June for $249.99

A year and a bit after SanDisk unveiled its 200GB behemoth of a microSD card, Samsung has managed to best that. The Korean company today has announced a 256GB microSD card, which is UHS-I, Class 10 (U3) compatible.

The card uses “advanced V-NAND technology” to achieve a maximum read speed of 95MB/s and a write speed of up to 90MB/s. That’s pretty much in the same ballpark as SanDisk’s aforementioned 200GB model – but you do get more storage space, obviously.

Samsung’s product can store up to 12 hours of 4K video recordings, up to 33 hours of 1080p video, or 46 hours of 720p footage,…

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active shows up on GFXBench, now with 5.5″ display

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, which first emerged in late March and was allegedly pictured in the wild recently, gets another confirmation of its existence. This latest round of intel comes from the GFXBench database and features detailed specs, though they do need to be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

For one, this alleged Galaxy S7 Active is listed with a 5.5-inch display, and initial import listings in India clearly stated 5.1 inches. The live images also depicted a device with a flat front, and we all know how this year’s Samsung flagship with a 5.5-inch display is the…

Marshmallow starts hitting Galaxy S5 Plus as well

With the Galaxy S5 smartphone receiving the Marshmallow update in several regions around the world, Samsung – it seems – has now shifted its attention to the Plus variant, as the update is now available for units (SM-G901F) in Germany.

Launched back in 2014 as a Snapdragon 805-powered variant of the Galaxy S5 flagship, the S5 Plus received the Android Lollipop update back in March last year. The latest update brings Android version 6.0.1 to the device, and bumps the build number to G901FXXU1CPE1.

Xiaomi unveils iHealth box, 10,000mAh battery, shows new Mi Band

Xiaomi showcased three accessories alongside the Mi Max, but details are pretty scarce at the moment. The new generation Mi Band was on stage, but that’s all we got.

Then there’s the 10,000mAh battery. It measures 12.6mm thick and has a USB Type-C (which can charge the battery or charge a phone) and a regular USB port. The battery will cost CNY 150 ($23/€20).

The Xiaomi iHealth box will measure biometric data, display it on its 4.3″ color screen and send it to your phone over Wi-Fi. I don’t trust Google Translate enough to tell what kind of biometric data the iHealth tracks, but…
