Opera adds power saving mode to developer channel

After adding VPN support to the developer channel recently, Opera has now added a power saving mode. With the feature enabled, Opera claims an increase of 50% battery life on your laptop, compared to Google Chrome.

The way the feature works is by disabling or reducing certain aspects of the browser. For example, the activity in background tabs is reduced, CPU wake times are reduced, unused plug-ins are automatically paused, framerate is reduced to 30 fps, hardware acceleration is forced for all video playback, and browser theme animations are paused.

Rumor says Meizu Pro 6’s Exynos 8890 variant will cost $460

As you might already know, the Helio X25-powered Meizu Pro 6 was made official last month. But if you recall, back in March this year, a leaked document revealed the existence of an Exynos 8890-powered variant of the device. Now, more details about the variant have been leaked.

According to rumors out of Meizu’s home country of China, the device will come with 4GB RAM and feature a dual curved screen. As for price, the phone will carry a tag of $460 – for comparison, the 64GB standard Pro 6 costs around $430.

ZTE Zmax Pro rumored with fingerprint sensor, 6-inch screen

According to a new report, ZTE is working to update its Zmax line-up with a new phone. Dubbed Zmax Pro, the device is said to be powered by Snapdragon 617, and sport a 6-inch full HD display.

RAM is 2GB, while internal memory is 32GB. The camera department is handled by a 13MP rear unit and a 5MP front shooter. The handset is also said to feature a fingerprint sensor. While there was no information on pricing, the report did note that the Zmax Pro will be available from T-Mobile.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update starts hitting Nvidia Shield Tablet

Nearly a month after the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 started receiving it, the Marshmallow update has started hitting the original Shield Tablet as well, bringing Android 6.0.1 as well as the Android security patch for the month of March.

A quick look at the release notes (click the Source link below) suggests that it’s exactly the same update that hit the Shield Tablet K1 last month. The update should hit your device soon (if it hasn’t already). Meanwhile, you can also manually check for it by heading to the Settings menu on the tablet.

AT&T launches LG Phoenix 2 with quad-core SoC, Android 6.0 Marshmallow

AT&T has updated its GoPhone prepaid lineup with a new LG phone. Dubbed Phoenix 2, the device is powered by a quad-core chipset with 1.3GHz processor, and sports a 5-inch HD display.

AT&T Galaxy S7 and S7 edge getting May security update

Several users are reporting that AT&T has started rolling out the latest security update to Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units on its network. The update bumps the device’s security patch level to the month of May.

New Evernote update brings better Google Drive integration

Evernote has pushed out a new update to its Web and Android apps that is aimed at tightly integrating the note-taking service with Google Drive, effectively allowing users to easily access their Drive files in Evernote.

“With this integration, Evernote customers can add any file in Drive to their notes without leaving Evernote,” the company said in a blog post. The update also brings along thumbnail previews and a rich viewing experience for added files.

While we were expecting it to be called the Axon 2, ZTE’s next flagship will in fact be called the Axon 7. This was revealed after the company sent out invites for an event set for May 26. The invite clearly mentions the Axon 7 moniker.

Now, exactly why ZTE decided to call the Axon successor as Axon 7 is currently not known. Perhaps, the Chinese company wants the device to be seen as a direct competitor to the Galaxy 7 or the upcoming iPhone 7. Or there could a different reason altogether.
