Minecraft is ingenious.
I'm constantly reminded how great the brilliance of this games design. I've been playing for awhile on and off since 1.3.2. During that time I have of course played other games some new some old. However I can't get enough of the fact that I control "my" Minecraft. By that I mean no matter what happens I know that anytime I want to I can start a new world or play old backups. That's something that you can't say about most games. Other games require you to be online, some have subscription models, some lose popularity and servers go down. With Minecraft you never have to worry about any of that. This means you never have to lose any progress or work you put in. I don't know about you all but as someone who has put thousands of hours each into multiple different games that's a sigh of relief. It's not that it would be the end of the world if that happened anyway it's just a great feature to have.
This isn't even scratching the surface though. They released a great base sandbox game, arguably the best and still work on updates and new features given out free to anyone who owns the base. The majority of games don't do that.
Then there's modding. There are countless mods that do everything from making the game run smoother to completely changing game play while still keeping core elements that make it fun. This extends the already virtually limitless playtime even more adding innumerable options for customizing your experience.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here but I just felt the need to say how greatly different this game is than any other. Thank you to all of the developers at Mojang and all of the mod authors for making something I have and will continue to enjoy for years to come.

Wither vs Dragon: The results of my cruel animal testing
I was curious about who would win: the wither or the dragon, so I conducted a few experiments. These were all conducted in Vanilla Minecraft, in creative mode.
The Mr Withers seemed more interested in Endermen than dragons. Who am I to judge?
I used a command block to instantly kill every Enderman that spawned. Mr Withers chased Dr Agon around but was ineffective. Dr Agon was refuelling regularly, which seemed a bit unfair on Mr Withers!
I destroyed the dragon feeding stations, then let Mr Withers do his work. Just between you and me, he is not the sharpest axe in the chest. Not that Dr Agon was any better. He just flew around thinking dragonny thoughts while Mr Withers chased him casually tossing his missiles and not really achieving much at all.
Maybe one Mr Withers was not enough? I made 9 friends for Mr Withers, to see what would happen. The posse leapt straight into action, dutifully chasing Dr Agon around as he completed his circuit with robotic disdain. Sadly, internal disputes within the party caused them to turn on one another, and they proceeded to slowly but surely destroy themselves. In the time it took the final Mr Withers to die in the agony of failure, they had only managed to reduce Dr Agon's health by about 1/7.
The wither may be hard for humans to defeat, but he's no more than a mosquito to the dragon!
I used a repeating command block to make an enormous mess of Blazes. They started chasing Mr Withers up in the air. He was completely unfazed happily floated up and away, picking them off like fish in a barrel. At some point I could no longer see them, only their smoke clouds, and at around 850 metres high he killed off the last one and returned home to roost.

There is a palpable sense of uncertainty today. As a leader, what do you do with that? How do you plan for a future that’s blurry? This is not new. Uncertainty did not arrive on election night or with the latest headlines, though it does feel especially intense at the moment.
