La firma japonesa Sony Corp reportó el martes una caída de un 48% en sus ganancias operativas para el trimestre de julio a septiembre luego de que los daños ocasionados por un terremoto siguieron afectando a su negocio de sensores de imagen.
La ganancia en su segundo trimestre fiscal se redujo a 45,700 millones de yenes (435.90 millones de dólares) desde 88,000 millones de yenes en el mismo periodo del año anterior.
Eso se compara con un pronóstico promedio de 46,270 millones de yenes obtenido por Thomson Reuters Starmine SmartEstimate en un sondeo a 10 analistas.

El resultado viene un día después de que Sony recortó su pronóstico de ganancias para todo el ejercicio a 270,000 millones de yenes (2,600 millones de dólares), debido principalmente a un cargo por deterioro de 33,000 millones de yenes ligado con la venta de su negocio de baterías.
Los inversores no se inmutaron por la revisión a la baja debido a que Sony mantuvo su previsión de ventas de 7.4 billones de yenes, y las pérdidas relacionadas con la venta de su negocio de baterías habían sido anunciadas anteriormente.
