The keynotes emphasized the importance of containers, both for the company, and the broader open source ecosystem. OpenShift, the PaaS offering from Red Hat, hogged the limelight by getting the attention of the speakers and attendees.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is already changing the way we interact with the world. Our devices are smarter, and I envision a future where we can turn on our lights, preheat our ovens, and set our thermostat to the perfect temperature before driving home from work. Augmented reality blurs the line between our physical world and the internet. Though some write AR off as a lot of bluster and no substance, I see the marriage of AR and IoT revolutionizing the way we do business.

What is the hottest place on Earth?  On July 10, 1913, observers in Death Valley, California (Furnace Creek, ) measured a temperature of 134°F and declared it the hottest temperature ever recorded. On September 13, 1922, a weather station in Libya recorded a temperature of 136.4°F (58.0°C). The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) recognized this observation as the hottest air temperature recorded on Earth for some time.

Dr. Shini Somara, a mechanical engineer and science reporter for the BBC who teaches Crash Course Physics on YouTube, is the kind of person who could make porous paving sound interesting. In fact, the first time she was ever on television, Shini did just that—live and in front of eight million viewers, no less. She told us about it in this week’s episode of The Limit Does Not Exist while I listened, wide-eyed, and Christina audibly shrieked. This type of challenge would make most people immediately break out into hives, but when you meet Shini, you quickly realize that she is not most people. She has an infectious passion for STEM, the credentials to back it up, and the ability to communicate her passion and knowledge in a fluid and utterly dynamic way.
