Chinese television giant LeEco will buy Vizio, an American television set vendor that controls about a fifth of the U.S. market. A cynic might imagine Communist China’s government will install technology to censor or monitor what Americans watch. A Chinese firm is striking again at American industry, some might also fear. But early word is that LeEco, sometimes described as the Netflix of China, will use the $2 billion deal announced Tuesday to leapfrog into the American television market and beyond for purely commercial reasons.

In the week before the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phablet, the South Korean company has announced its Q2 2016 earnings report. Crucially, year on year revenue was up five percent, profit up eighteen percent, and that turnaround has been driven by strong sales of the Galaxy S7 family of devices (primarily the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge).

Gaming PCs these days come in all shapes and sizes. However, typically, the less volume you have to work with, the less horsepower under the hood, due to the simple laws of physics and thermodynamics. Regardless, Dell’s Alienware division has managed to engineer a less-than 2 foot tall by just over a foot deep, small form-factor gaming PC that drops in a power plant with the muscle and bleeding-edge platform technologies of a system three times its size. The newly redesigned Alienware Aurora R5  is kind of like the Alfa Romeo 4C of gaming desktops. It’s sleek, tiny and absolutely busting at the seams with horsepower – well, at least you can configure it that way.
