Minecraft is Doom
I haven't played Minecraft regularly since about 2012, but have been considering getting back into it as of late. I was really interested in the creative sector of the community; more using the game as an engine for mods and experiences instead of actual gameplay. The only thing that has been holding me back is the community life. Minecraft has been out for a while. Especially after the Microsoft acquisition, is the game worth starting again? Could it be dying? About an hour ago though, after thinking on it, I had a realization: Minecraft, at least in my opinion, is destined to become the Doom/Quake of this generation. With the amount of mod and creator support and just how much of a cult following it's gained, it's never something that will really "die' in the traditional sense. It's a game that 10, maybe even 20 years from now, people will still probably be playing because of the classic it's grown into and if, people can still play Quake after 20 years, I can still play Minecraft after 4.
Sorry for the rant, just something I've been thinking about and wanted to get the community's opinion on. Spark some discussion.
