LG reconoce el fallo de hardware en los LG G4 y los reparará gratis

Después de varios meses de que los propietarios de un LG G4 se quejasen de un problema de bootloop sin que nadie les escuchase, el medio Android Authority se hizo eco y se fue a por LG sin más dilación. Según se recoge hoy en el mismo medio LG ha reconocido que este problema es un defecto de hardware, y por ende reparará los dispositivos defectuosos de forma gratuita.

Este problema afecta tanto a modelos libres como de operadora del último flagship de la firma coreana, que ha diagnosticado el problema como “un mal contacto entre componentes” después de una investigación exhaustiva. El fabricante se ha comprometido a repararlo y, además, se ha disculpado con todos los propietarios de un LG G4 que hayan tenido este problema.

Esto sin duda será un alivio para todos los usuarios de un LG G4 que estuviesen pasando por este trance, pero la falta de respuesta ha provocado un daño que ya está hecho.

Que hayan tardado tanto tiempo en dar una solución es lo que ha enfurecido a mucos propietarios. Todos ellos se lanzaron a las redes sociales, foros de tecnología y, en definitiva, cualquier plataforma desde la que expresar su frustración: desde XDA Developers a Reddit, pasando por Facebook y Twitter, Internet está lleno de historias de nuevos modelos del LG G4 que se han convertido en pisapapeles muy caros por culpa de este problema.

La falta de respuesta por parte del fabricante coreano derivó en la creación de una petición en Change.org en la que se pedía al CEO de LG que “reconozca oficialmente este defecto de hardware y que lance un reemplazo gratis para todos los usuarios afectados por este defecto, sin importar la región o la variante del LG G4″. En este momento la petición cuenta con 1.279 firmantes.

‘Detective Pikachu’ Is Pokémon’s New Game/Fever Dream

Today, The Pokémon Company debuted the trailer for a new game on Nintendo’s 3DS, Detective Pikachu. This being the “Year of Pokémon,” aka the 20th anniversary of the franchise, there are a number of new Poké-related games coming out including Pokken Tournament for Wii U and Pokémon Go for mobile. Detective Pikachu rounds out the group with a 3DS release. The full title is actually Great Detective Pikachu: The Birth of a New Duo, because of course it is.

OLED Displays Finally Go Mainstream As A CES 2016 Bright Spot For Notebooks

This year’s CES show is all but in the rear view mirror at this point but there was a common theme among notebook manufacturers that you may have missed if you weren’t paying attention. For years now, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology has helped to deliver arguably some of the best smartphone display experiences in handsets. Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology came first and others like Google’s Nexus 6P, Motorola’s Droid Turbo 2 and Microsoft’s Lumia 950 series more recently have followed suit. Side-by-side, if you hold an OLED display-equipped phone next to a standard IPS display device, even of course Apple’s iPhone Retina display, the differences are stark. Brightness levels are superior, even in daylight, while contrast, saturation and color balance generally are significantly better with an OLED display. OLED displays have much more pop, with deep blacks and brighter whites. They also have much faster pixel response times at under 1ms. On the other hand, manufacturing large OLED displays gets expensive, so until recently they’ve been relegated to small screen sizes like 5 to 6-inch smartphones. However, that dynamic seems to be changing and manufacturing processes for building them are getting more efficient at scale. And the good news is the next mainstream adoption of OLED display technology looks like it will come to notebooks very soon.
