The big four US carriers hog most of the attention, but it’s important to remember that there are plenty of smaller carriers and prepaid options as well. AT&T GoPhone is one of the more notable prepaid options from (you guessed it) AT&T, offering customers an affordable prepaid option.
This past Friday, GoPhone bumped up the 4G data offerings on two of its plans, allowing customers to get a bit more data for the same price. The $45 plan has had its data amount boosted to 2GB from the previous 1.5GB allotment. The $60 plan has increased from 4GB of 4G data to 5GB. Both plans still include unlimited talk and text.
The increases may be small, but they allow customers to get a bit more bang for their buck, which is what most prepaid customers are looking for. Check out more at the source link below.

As we inch our way closer to the inevitable unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in February, there’s still a lot of confusion regarding the specifications of the two phones. We’ve seen conflicting specs sheets from multiple rumors, but a new screenshot from an AnTuTu benchmark test may finally clear things up for us. If the screenshot is real, the SM-G935A (Samsung Galaxy S7 edge) in question is equipped with a 5.1-inch 2560×1440 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and its Adreno 530 GPU, 12-megapixel main camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The main difference between the screenshot and previous rumors is the size of the phone’s display. Multiple rumors have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge would feature a 5.2-inch or a 5.5-inch display. We’ve even seen technical diagrams of the phone that “confirm” these claims. Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing which rumors are correct and which are not. We do know that Samsung is working on a few different variations of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, so it’s understandable that there’s a lot of confusion regarding screen sizes.

Xiaomi has spent the last couple of years building a name for itself, and a large part of that has come from putting powerful specs in devices with low price points. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is the company’s latest example of that. It offers specs such as a 5-inch 720p display and octa-core Snapdragon processor for the equivalent of just over $100 USD.
Diving into the specs, you’ll find a 5-inch 720p display, octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage plus a microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 4100mAh battery with fast charging capability and dual-SIM card slots, though one of them doubles as the microSD card port. On the software side, the Redmi 3 runs MIUI 7, though the base Android version is unclear.
All of that comes at a price of just RMB 699, or about $106 USD. That price gives the Redmi 3 far more bang for your buck than nearly any other smartphone. The downside of the matter is that, for now, Xiaomi is only launching the Redmi 3 in China. Nonetheless, we’ll be sure to keep you informed if the company decides to expand availability to other countries as well.

La semana pasada tuvimos una de las noticias más sorprendentes de este principio de año al saber que BlackBerry lanzará dos dispositivos móviles en este año 2016 con Android. Esta afirmación, proveniente del CES 2016 de Las Vegas, consiguió que la noticia se expandiera por todas partes al confirmar que este año, desde la compañía canadiense, solamente se verían terminales con el SO para dispositivos móviles de Google. Toda una gran noticia que afirmaba, de paso, que las cifras de ventas de BlackBerry Priv fueron de las buenas para que este popular fabricante siguiese fabricando terminales Android. Pero claro, esto conlleva que dejan de lado a BB 10, aunque de forma momentánea.
Las palabras de John Ceo, CEO de BlackBerry, resonaron muy mal en aquellos fans de BB 10. La ausencia en sus palabras de su propio SO consiguió que se levantara mucha especulación relacionada a un cambio total a Android en uno de sus ejes centrales como fue ese sistema operativo propio. Ahora es Chen, el que sale a la palestra de nuevo para confirmar que no están dejando de lago a BB 10, al menos, no, en este año. Quizás estas palabras sean para calmar los ánimos de los fans de este sistema operativo, pero la verdad que parecen más bien para salir al paso de lo que sí que serán dos nuevos smartphones de BlackBerry con Android.
Nos queda preguntarnos que ofrece ahora un sistema operativo como es BlackBerry 10 con una tienda de apps escasa en software de calidad y que la convierte casi en la de los horrores para aquel usuario acostumbrado a la Play Store, de Google, o la App Store, de Apple. Vale que sigue siendo uno de los mejores en torno a la seguridad y la privacidad con unas características muy importantes, aparte de contar con un rendimiento bastante considerable, aunque todo esto no le ha valido realmente para nada, ya que han confiado en Android para intentar buscar otras salidas y éxitos a su malogrado camino en estos años pasados.
BB10 se ha quedado atrás en esta carrera por intentar llevar el mejor SO a los usuarios, en donde Apple y Google han sabido dar con la tecla necesaria para disputarse entre los dos el mercado de la telefonía móvil. Tenemos a una Microsoft intentando por todos lados el adentrar a ese Windows 10, pero parece que les costará muchos esfuerzos el conseguirlo. Por lo que nos quedamos con un BB10 que se le ha dejado fuera de juego en el nuevo BlackBerry Priv, un terminal que ha sabido encontrar su sitio en el mercado tan convulso y difícil de Android.
Con esto puesto sobre la mesa no queda nada más que pensar sobre la retirada, a tiempo, de un propio SO en favor del propio de Google. Aunque de momento esto no ocurrirá, ya que las palabras de Chen mantienen que la compañía lanzará una versión 10.3.3 y 10.3.4, con las dos enfocándose en la seguridad y en la elegibilidad para un uso del gobierno.
Lo curioso del caso y la razón principal para que seamos muchos los que hemos clamado la predisposición de BlackBerry con Android, es que en ningún momento Chen mencionó alguna actualización importante para el SO, aparte de lo que son esas dos versiones centradas en la seguridad, para este año 2016. Los planes son como esas actualizaciones de seguridad que reciben los dispositivos Nexus y que son esenciales para no ofrecer una experiencia de uso desagradable en la que cualquier hacker pueda hacerse con un dispositivo móvil si este no es actualizado debidamente, algo básico para un software de este tipo.
Lo que sí que vamos a dejar dicho que según BlackBerry seguirán con BB10, aunque a la hora de la verdad tengamos dos nuevos productos que seguirán la estela de éxito tomada por el BlackBerry Priv. Seguramente que si estos dos nuevos dispositivos aumentan las ventas y la popularidad de BlackBerry en Android, quizás hasta se les olviden actualizar su BB10 y pasen directamente a unirse a la fiesta que es ahora mismo el SO desarrollado por Google.

The 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J5 has surfaced on Indian import database Zauba. The online document shows the Galaxy J5 (2016) has the model number SM-J510 and has entered the country for testing purposes on January 8.
In terms of specs, the listing doesn’t reveal much. The display of the Galaxy J5 (2016) is the only thing listed and it’s a 5.2″ display. Resolution isn’t known yet, but we presume it’s going to be 720p, like the current-gen Galaxy J5.
There’s neither a price, nor release date for the 2016 Galaxy J5. The midranger could be ready for prime time at the end of February in time for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
