Oppo’s new F-series aim to put an emphasis on mobile imaging, as the company announced a couple of days ago. The first model in the lineup, the F1, is said to go official sometime this month, but until then, Oppo is giving us bits of the puzzle, one by one.
We’ve now been told that the smartphone will come with a 13MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus. That’s nothing new, when recent Oppo handsets are concerned, the R7 and R7s come with the same setup. On the front, the 8MP camera appears to be borrowed from the R-series too, but in fact it’s paired with a much wider f/2.0 lens, compared to the R7’s f/2.4.
On the software end, the camera is backed by Oppo’s PureImage 2.0+ platform, meaning a wide set of modes (presented as plug-ins), as well as the obligatory filters.

We’re yet to see specifics on the chipset, but Oppo tells us the F1 will be Snapdragon-powered, and that more than likely means the S615 found in numerous midrange handsets, including a few of Oppo’s own. What we do know is that the phone will have 3GB of RAM.

Chinese company LeTV has announced that total sales of its smartphones crossed the 4 million mark this year. The announcement came in the form of an official post on Weibo.
It’s worth mentioning that LeTV has effectively achieved the aforementioned 4 million milestone in less than a year given that the company first entered the smartphone market back in April 2015. And going by the numbers that have been revealed until now, it looks like the firm is rapidly climbing the popularity charts in its home country of China.
For those who aren’t already aware, LeTV became the fastest growing Chinese smartphone manufacturers after it sold 1 million units its first three months, and it broke its own record by selling that many handsets in November alone.
Now, the company is expanding its footprint, ready to enter India with Le Max, which has 6.33-inch display and 4GB RAM. The world’s first SD820-powered phone is also from LeTV – dubbed Le Max Pro, the device was unveiled yesterday at CES.
Nikon announced three new cameras today, one professional grade DSLR, one prosumer DSLR, and one ruggedized 4K action camera.
The Nikon D5 is a FX-format full-frame DSLR. It has a 20.8 megapixel CMOS sensor with a new 153-point AF system with 99 cross-type sensors, 100 to 102,400 ISO range, expandable to ISO 3,280,000, 12fps burst rate with full AE and AF and 14fps with fixed focus and mirror locked up, EXPEED 5 image processor, 4K UHD video, 3.2-inch 2359k dot touchscreen LCD, and option of either dual CF or dual XQD cards. The Nikon D5 is priced at $6,499.95 and will be available in March.
The Nikon D500 is a DX-format DSLR. It has an all-new 20.9 megapixel CMOS sensor an ISO range of 100 to 51,200, expandable to 1,640,000 equivalent, EXPEED 5 image processor, 10fps burst mode with full AF and AE, 153 point AF system, 180K RGB metering system, 4K UHD video, and 3.2-inch 2,359k dot touchscreen LCD. It is priced at $1,999.95 body-only and $3,069.95 with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens.
Finally there is the compact Nikon KeyMission 360, Nikon’s first action camera. The camera features an image sensor and a lens on either side, which allows it to capture true 360-degree video in 4K. It is also waterproof up to 30m, as well as dust and shock proof.
The vibration reduction feature helps reduce the camera shake in videos. No price has been announced so far but the camera will be available in Spring 2016 along with a variety of dedicated accessories.

Como bien sabéis, nuestros compañeros Carlos y Jaume se encuentran en Las Vegas contándonos todo acerca de una de las ferias tecnológicas más importantes del mundo, el CES. Así pues, se han puesto manos a la obra y gracias a su cámara de vídeo, han decidido probar todo dispositivo que tengan al alcance de la mano.
El primer gadget que han tenido el honor de tocar ha sido el Huawei Mate 8. Un terminal con un aspecto muy premium –hablamos de Huawei– y que a pesar de seguir con una línea continuista, se nota que ha sido diseñado con mucho mimo y cuidado.
Características y especificaciones técnicas
Procesador Kiri 950, que a falta de probarlo en profundidad, la gente de Huawei comenta que tiene mayor rendimiento que procesadores Kirin de generaciones anteriores además de un mejor consumo energético. Contaremos con dos versiones de 3 o 4 GB de memoria RAM y dos diferentes tipos de almacenamientos a elegir, 32 o 64 GB. Dispondrá de una impresionante batería de 4.000 mAh además de lo último en conectividad, incluyendo NFC y lector de huellas en la parte trasera.
Respecto al apartado multimedia, nuestras primeras impresiones no han podido ser mejores. Contamos con una pantalla grande de 6 pulgadas que pese a ser FHD se ve realmente bien. No sigue el ejemplo de otros modelos con pan tallas 2K, pero siendo sinceros, la pantalla es muy buena.
Entrando en el apartado fotográfico, y pese a no haber probado la cámara en profundidad, a primera vista tiene muy buena pinta. Una cámara trasera de 16 megapíxeles con focal 2.0 que nos ha dado unos sensaciones muy positivas. Pero repetimos, hasta que no la saquemos a la calle no podremos juzgarla mejor.

Podremos encontrar el Huawei Mate 8 –ya a la venta en España– a un precio entre 500 y 700 euros según las especificaciones que escojamos.
Un terminal grande en pantalla pero contenido en dimensiones. Con un diseño muy premiun que sienta fenomenal en la mano y que se nota muy pero que muy cuidado en su fabricación. Huawei lo vuelve a hacer en el apartado del diseño y demuestra el por qué es una de las marcas más tope de gama del momento.
Por otro lado, habrá que esperar al análisis para saber más acerca del Kirin 950 y su rendimiento, y sobre todo cómo se comportarán sus cámaras en todas las situaciones a las que les pongamos a prueba. Aún así, tenemos que comentar que el tiempo que hemos estado con el Huawei Mate 8, muy buenas primeras impresiones nos ha dejado, por lo que ojo cuidado, habrá que estar muy atentos a él y a Huawei en este 2016.
