Aplicaciones para cenar y chuparse los dedos; Hoy, Cocina con Sara Lite

Aún con las vacaciones de Navidad para aquellos que las disfrutan, nuestra primera app del año en la sección Aplicaciones para cenar y chuparse los dedos no podía ser otra que una que pensase en los más pequeños de la casa. Es por esa razón que hoy queremos analizar a fondo una herramienta que se queda a medio camino entre lo que significa la cocina para los peques: un juego y un aprendizaje de algo útil a la vez. La protagonista del día se llama Cocina con Sara y estoy segura que a los más pequeños de la casa les apasionará.

Cocina con Sara es de esas aplicaciones que tienen una versión gratuita en la que se puede solamente aprender cómo funciona. En cuanto te empiezas a enganchar toca pagar por ella por los escasos contenidos que ofrece. Eso sí, los desarrolladores tienen derecho a ganarse la vida con ello con lo que creo que en este caso, las cosas se hacen bien. El usuario puede hacerse una idea a 360 grados de lo que encuentra en la app, y pagando amplia las recetas disponibles para poder cocinar y jugar a la vez con los niños de la casa.

Cocina con Sara: ideal para las tardes de familia

Este tipo de aplicaciones educativas son perfectas para aprovechar la tecnología para hacer justo lo contrario de lo que se hace habitualmente: aislarse con ellas. Con Cocinando con Sara toda la familia puede disfrutar de momentos juntos y, de paso, hacer platos realmente deliciosos con los que los pequeños verán que cosas como cocinar pueden ser muy interesantes. La interfaz educativa ayuda a que incluso los niños más pequeños puedan participar de algún modo y les entretiene animándolos a seguir con la tarea.

Por otro lado, no todo son ventajas dentro de la aplicación Cocina con Sara. De hecho, una de las principales faltas que existen está en el idioma. Está en inglés. En realidad, lo que podría ser un complejo para no tenerla en tu terminal, sobre todo ahora que ha comenzado el nuevo año, debería ser aprovechado como algo positivo para poder aprender o practicar el inglés. ¿No te parece? Así que no sé si desde ese punto de vista es más una ventaja o una desventaja.

Ya por último, pese a la interfaz educativa llena de dibujos e ilustraciones muy apropiadas para los más pequeños, quizás si se echa en falta, sobre todo por el hecho de que serán los adultos los que la utilicen para enseñar a los niños a preparar los platos, más fotografías o contenido multimedia real que ilustre la preparación final que se está haciendo con las recetas disponibles. Y para finalizar, como comentábamos al principio del párrafo, si bien todas las opciones están activas en la versión gratuita, tan solo te encontrarás con tres recetas para poder probarla. Pese a que hay muchas quejas al respecto, reconozco que me parece justo que cada cual cobre por su trabajo. Y si además hay una versión gratis para probarlo todo, ¿se les puede pedir más? Yo creo que no. Totalmente recomendable.

Oppo F, terminales de gama media centrados en la fotografía

Seguimos con noticias frescas directas del CES 2016 que se está celebrando en Las Vegas, y en esta ocasión es el turno de Oppo, la conocida firma china que cada año nos deja alguna que otra sorpresa. Por el momento nos han anunciado su nueva familia Oppo F, que estará compuesta por smartphones de gama media, pero que estarán centrados en ofrecer un buen apartado fotográfico.

Es normal que Oppo quiera centrarse en este segmento, y es que aunque han mejorado en los últimos meses, de sobra es sabido que el apartado fotográfico es uno de los puntos más flojos dentro de los smartphones de gama media. Salvo contadas excepciones (como puede ser el Motorola Moto G de 2015, por poner un ejemplo), las fotografías de los gama media suelen dejar bastante que desear, y más si las condiciones de luz no son las mejores.

¿Smartphones de gama media con buenas cámaras?

Como decimos, uno de los aspectos en los que más cojea la gama media actual es en las fotos. Es cierto que en el resto de apartados han mejorado muchísimo, hasta el punto de tener poco que envidiar a gamas más altas tanto en rendimiento, como incluso en materiales de construcción y acabados. Y no menos cierto es que la competitividad en esta gama es brutal, con precios cada vez más ajustados.

Por tanto, estos Oppo F pueden suponer un buen filón para Oppo si realmente logran diferenciarse de sus rivales directos, haciendo uso de cámaras que aporten la calidad que muchos usuarios buscan, y que ven que solo es posible alcanzar si se dejan un buen dineral en el teléfono.

Por el momento, esta es la única información oficial que nos ha comunicado Oppo a través de su nota de prensa, además de anunciar que la nueva familia Oppo F, empezando por el Oppo F1, estará disponible a partir de este mismo mes de enero. No sabemos ni fechas concretas, ni precios, ni tampoco datos referentes a esas cámaras que, por lo que nos aseguran, prometen ser buenas. Estaremos atentos a cualquier novedad para manteneros informados.

Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge tipped to feature larger batteries, microSD support, and more

The Samsung Galaxy S7, and the Galaxy S7 edge, have been getting a lot of attention recently, which shouldn’t be too surprising considering the unveiling of both devices is (probably) quickly approaching. In fact, an earlier report from today suggested the device lineup could feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood and a 12-megapixel camera on the back.

Now, a new report from VentureBeat has articulated a few more points, echoing some early rumors and adding new fuel to the fire for those keeping tabs on all the expected features in Samsung’s upcoming flagship devices.

First up, the displays. According to the report, the Galaxy S7 will keep its flat display, with no curves, and still rock a 5.1-inch bullet point on the specifications sheet. The Galaxy S7 edge will have a curved display, as expected, and it’s now expected to see a screen size of 5.5 inches. This report suggests that while some rumors have pointed to a Galaxy S7 variant with a 5.7-inch display, that won’t be happening after all.

The batteries in the two devices are said to be getting a bump, too. According to VentureBeat‘s sources, the Galaxy S7′s battery will measure in at 3000mAh, up from the 2550mAh battery in the Galaxy S6. On top of that, the Galaxy S7 edge’s battery will bump up to 3600mAh, which means an increase from the 2600mAh battery found in the Galaxy S6 edge.

They won’t be removable, though. They’ll still feature wireless charging, with the Galaxy S7′s charge time reportedly at 2 hours and the Galaxy S7 edge’s charge time at 2.2 hours.

Samsung is said to be using an Exynos 8 8890 chipset under the hood for some, if not most, of its variants. However, in the United States, the report echoes earlier reports that Samsung will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor to run the show. It also indicates that the devices will boast 4GB of RAM, and that there will only be two storage options: 32GB and 64GB. However, a 128GB option could exist at some point in certain global channels.

Finally, this report also states that Samsung is opting to use a 12-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S7 lineup. That’s a drop in megapixel count from the Galaxy S6, which utilized a 16-megapixel shooter. This new camera is said to feature an aperture of f/1.7, which is a change from the Galaxy S6′s f/1.9. It is also said to be better in low-light scenarios as well.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are said to be retaining the design choices from their predecessors, but also offer some water resistance, too.

Samsung Galaxy S7 variant may feature 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 820 and 12MP camera

We’ve seen dozens of rumors already, but a new leak suggests yet another variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 may be in play. According to a post on Reddit, there’s a new variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 floating around which has a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and a peculiar 12 megapixel camera. While Samsung’s flagship phones have featured 13 megapixel or higher imaging sensors for the past three years, the 12 megapixel sensor of this rumored device does align with reports that Samsung is working on a 12 megapixel mobile imaging sensor with a larger footprint than the one currently used in the Samsung Galaxy S6. The lower megapixel count and larger size would allow the sensor to capture more light, leading to clearer images – particularly in low-light conditions.

With all the rumors surrounding the Samsung’s Galaxy S7 lineup, keep track of what rumors and credible and which ones aren’t has become quite a chore. This new 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 rumor appears to be credible, but we’re going to wait a bit longer before we lump it in with the 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 rumors.

LG announces K series smartphones, K10 and K7 become official first

Today LG has unveiled its new K line of smartphones. This is meant to be the successor to the L series from a while back, as it also features affordable devices with certain premium-like traits.

The first two handsets in the K series are the K10 and K7, both of which have been made official by the Korean company on this occasion.

The K10 (pictured above) has a 5.3-inch 720p touchscreen, a 2,300 mAh battery, Android 5.1 Lollipop on board, and three color versions: white, indigo, and gold. The rest of the specs will vary based on which country you buy the K10 from, as well as whether you get the LTE-capable model or the one that’s 3G-only.

The LTE-enabled iteration of the LG K10 comes with a 13MP rear camera, while the 3G model has to make do with an 8MP main unit. In terms of front-facing snapper you can get either 8 MP or 5 MP resolution, depending on market. RAM amount can be 1GB, 1.5GB, or 2GB, while the internal storage is either 8GB or 16GB.

There are four CPU options, three of which will be found on the LTE K10: 1.2 GHz or 1.3 GHz quad-core, as well as 1.14 GHz octa-core. The 3G K10 will have a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor.

Moving on, the already leaked LG K7 (pictured below) comes with a 5-inch 854×480 touchscreen, a 2,125 mAh battery, a 5 MP selfie shooter, and Android 5.1 Lollipop. Everything else is once again different based on where the phone is sold, and whether you buy the LTE model or the 3G one.

The LTE K7 has a 1.1 GHz quad-core CPU, while the 3G iteration sports a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The main camera is either 8 MP or 5 MP depending on market, RAM can be 1.5GB or 1GB, and the built-in storage is 8GB or 16GB. The LTE model will only be available in the “Titan” hue, while the 3G version will be offered in white, black, and gold.

Both K series devices have LG’s new “glossy pebble” design language, which employs a “curved, modern finish aimed at a younger audience”. They both have 2.5D curved glass on top of their displays, and they will both be showcased at CES this week. Pricing and availability details haven’t been announced…
