Hasbro Cashes In On Bronies With $100-Plus ‘My Little Pony’ Toy Line

The newest line of My Little Pony toys is definitely not for kids.
Hasbro Inc. and Integrity Toys, Inc. are collaborating on a “high end collectible” series called ❤ My Little Pony, exclusively designed (and priced) for adult fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. These fans are colloquially called Bronies, a mostly adult, male Internet-spawned fandom with an unusual cultural position which is nearly as mainstream as My Little Pony itself.

“There’s a tremendous adult market,” Integrity Toys spokesperson Carol Roth said in an interview. “Bronies have inspired entire pop culture phenomenon. The reality is most My Little Pony collectors are in their 20s to 60s and possibly even older than that.”
Ever since My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic revived the sparkly equine franchise in 2010 and attracted a massive adult following of bronies, Hasbro’s My Little Pony line  is in an enviable position for a toy company, balancing two very different audience demographics.
My Little Pony isn’t the only children’s toy franchise to court adults in an attempt to attract multiple demographics. Mattel offers the Barbie Collection Exclusives series of high-end dolls with three-figure price tags. Sanrio has a similar approach, offering a $1,365 Hello Kitty diamond ring alongside its empire of merchandise for young girls. Disney collaborates with luxury women’s brands to provide princess products designed less for little girls than their mothers—their Dooney & Bourke collection pairs Disney whimsy with $100 handbags.
These franchises are far different than bronies, who have only recently discovered Hasbro’s My Little Pony brand and have done so en masse.

Harley-Davidson’s 2016 Road Glide Special: 813 Pounds of Fun

Call me Sir-Max-A-Lot. I like big bikes and I cannot lie. And the $25,699 Road Glide is a certified Big Guy at 813 pounds. Its strengths and weaknesses are entirely up to the person riding it, though. Some riders like to use a motorcycle to get away from everything and everyone for a bit sans electronics, music and chatter (raises hand.) Others want their bike to come with a BoomBox 6.5GT sound system with touch-screen controls and iPod hook up, a nav system, cruise control, and other extras like the Road Glide Special does. So be it.

Miura KM 008: Forging Ahead on the Green

Miura Golf is known for making some of golf’s most expensive clubs. And they’re well worth the price. Many of the forged iron models from this Japan-based company are made by hand, at least for part of the process. And that makes them feel and perform as pure as any club on the market. And in fact, a great deal of craftsmanship is put into every Miura product.
