Project Fi unofficially working on Moto X Pure Edition
Project Fi is only officially compatible with the Nexus 6, but interestingly enough, it seems to work well on the new Moto X Pure Edition. The devices are similar enough, being fully unlocked Motorola devices with pure Android, so it was worth a try.
Droid-Life tested it out by throwing a Project Fi SIM into the Moto X Pure Edition, and it could be activated and used without any obvious trouble. Of course, it’s still unofficial and might have problems down the road, but for now it’s worth a shot!

Sony changing stance on using its phones underwater
Sony Xperia devices have been water resistant for a while now. The company is proud of this fact, and advertises it as much as possible. We’ve seen countless photo and video advertisements of people using the devices underwater. Unfortunately, Sony is changing its stance on this.
Sony is now asking people not to use these devices underwater, despite the IP68 water resistance certification. The company cites the testing standards, which are done under laboratory conditions to achieve such a rating. And it makes sense, as the phones are gently placed under 1.5 meters of water for half an hour. Fast movement underwater places a lot of pressure on those seals and water may enter despite the rating, because the pressure is so high during movement.
However, with all the advertisements showing underwater use, it’s a pretty unfortunate thing for Sony to do. A lot of people bought these devices for the IP68 water resistance, and they’re being told not to use the devices as they intended to use them. The water resistance should only be a security measure in the case of an accident, not as a feature.
It’s likely that Sony is dealing with a lot of warranty claims from people who have used the devices underwater, whether properly or improperly, and is taking a stand. Alcatel OneTouch Watch makes its way to India
Many, many months after it was announced at CES, the Alcatel OneTouch Watch is now official for the Indian market too. It will be exclusively sold by Flipkart, priced at INR 7,999 (that’s $120 or 106). Interestingly, the pricing is more aggressive in India than in the US, where the recommended value is $149.99. That’s not a situation we see often in the mobile world.
The Alcatel OneTouch Watch doesn’t run Android Wear as you might expect. Instead it’s powered by a different solution developed by Alcatel for it. It does however work with both Android smartphones as well as iPhones, through dedicated apps.
The smartwatch has a 1.22-inch 240×240 touchscreen with oleophobic coating, it’s powered by the STM429 chipset, and it’s got a 210 mAh battery. Also in tow is Bluetooth 4.0 support, and it has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
Sensor-wise you get an accelerometer, an altimeter, a gyro, an e-compass, as well as a heart rate monitor. It’s compatible with devices running Android 4.3 or newer and iOS 7 or later. It’s 10.5mm thick, and the watch face has a diameter of 41.8mm.
