Huawei Nexus 6P render leaks alongside packaging for both new Nexuses

The Nexus leaks have been flowing steadily in recent weeks. We’ve heard that they’re being made by LG and Huawei, both devices have been shown in image leaks, and some of the specs of both phones have leaked out, too. Now we’re getting the biggest leaks yet in the form of an official Nexus 6P render and images of the packaging for both phones.

First up, an official-looking Huawei Nexus 6P render has been shared by Android Police. The device looks similar to the ones we’ve seen in past leaks, offering a pair of front-facing speakers as well as a round fingerprint reader around back. Above that fingerprint reader is a bump with a black insert that houses the rear camera and flash.

Android Police has also shared images that reportedly show the packaging for both LG and Huawei’s new Nexus phones. One box includes Nexus and “5X” branding, seemingly confirming the LG Nexus 5X name that’s been rumored for some time now, while the other includes Nexus and “6P,” confirming the Nexus 6P name for Huawei’s phone.

The packaging for the two phones appear to have sleeves over the boxes that’ll actually hold the phones. The sleeves have X and P designs, and each letter appears to have an Android wallpaper filling it in.

In addition to revealing the names of these two devices, the packaging lists them both as coming with 32GB of storage. Past reports have suggested that the Nexus 5X will also come with 16GB of storage, while the Nexus 6P will be sold in 64GB and 128GB options.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are both expected to debut on September 29. The Nexus 5X will reportedly be the smaller of the two, offering a 5.2-inch screen in addition to a 12.3-megapixel camera and Snapdragon 808 processor. Meanwhile, the Nexus 6P will allegedly have a 5.7-inch screen and Snapdragon 810 chipset.

Google is holding an event on September 29, and it’s expected that we’ll see both of these phones unveiled there.

Apple’s next-gen A10 chipset rumored to have hexa-core CPU

This year’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sport Apple’s all-new A9 chipset, which brings with it improved performance compared to its predecessors. The A9’s barely become official and we’re already hearing the first rumor regarding its successor. According to a source in China, the Apple A10 for 2016 devices will be quite special.

That’s because the Cupertino company is said to be seriously focusing on multithreading for the first time since it’s started designing mobile chipsets. This newfound focus may result in the A10 SoC having a hexa-core (6-core) CPU.

Up until this point, Apple went up to three cores maximum. This is why its chips benchmark poorly in multi-core runs compared to the Android competition. The A10 will be manufactured on either a 14nm or a 10nm process. The manufacturing partner for it could be Samsung, but TSMC and Intel haven’t been ruled out either.

The source of the information is apparently the same person who accurately described the Apple A9 chipset before it was official, so all of this could pan out. Then again, we’re pretty early in the development phase of the A10, so even if these details are true now, things may change in the future.
