Is EA Trolling Activison? ‘Skate’ On Sale As ‘Tony Hawk’ Flounders

In the mood to buy a skateboarding video game this week? By all accounts, you might want to steer clear of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, the latest iteration in the long running series released with zero fanfare and a day-one patch bigger than the game itself. It seems to be a glitchy mess, half-baked, unfinished, and sure to be fodder for a thousand videos of skaters falling through sidewalks until everyone loses interest.  And wouldn’t you know, Activision competitor EA just “happened” to put it’s own skateboarding series on an Xbox Live sale at half off.

Destiny’s Black Spindle Resurfaces, But The Sleeper Simulant Isn’t Where It’s Supposed To Be

It seems that Armsday is the new big breaking news day for Destiny every week, and today that’s true for a few reasons. The first is that yet again, Lost to Light is the daily Heroic story mission, meaning that all those poor souls (like myself) who didn’t managed to snag the elusive Black Spindle from the hidden sub-quest can try it again.

Medium In Business Insider’s Cross-Hairs

Two of my fave online haunts made headlines this week. Medium, the buzzy publishing platform founded by Twitter co-founder and “platisher” Evan Williams, announced that it had scored $57 million in Series A funding from some pretty influential VCs including Google Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Greylock Partners and Williams’ own Obvious Ventures. Writing on the platform, Medium’s operations chief Andy Doyle noted:

“This investment strengthens Medium for the foreseeable future and allows us to continue, heads down, running hard to fully realize our vision.”

Samsung’s Gear S2 and S2 Classic will be out in the US on October 2

Samsung announced the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic smartwatches at the end of August ahead of IFA, and ever since then you’ve probably been wondering when you’ll be able to buy one.

And today the official answer has arrived, at least if you’re in the US. Over there, the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic will become available on October 2, which is this Friday.

You’ll find them at Samsung’s online store, Amazon, Best Buy, and Macy’s. You’ll need to shell out $299.99 to purchase the Gear S2, while the S2 Classic will go for $349.99.
