‘The Martian’ Is Beautiful, Honest and Intense

The Martian is one of the most gripping and authentic sci-fi films I’ve seen. The movie takes off with or without you, wasting no time getting to the reason you are there. This is a remarkable race to the end which is expertly handled by the overpowering will of director Ridley Scott and by the smartly written script by Drew Goddard. As I describe in my video review, the weight of all of this is on the all-star cast which delivers in a way that leaves no moment too small and preventing any moment from feeling too big.

Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Is Good, But Not The Best

The Oculus Rift has come a long way since I first tried it years ago with John Carmack, and it was just wires and duct tape. As you’ll see in the video, it’s now slick and fun virtual experience with lots of content on the way. The games I played last month on the VR device were smart, fun and tookgreat advantage of virtual reality experience. Games like Alien: Isolation and Edge of Nowhere are particularly effective. The most important thing about the Oculus Rift is that the device raised the bar for what virtual reality should be, but as I explain here, it’s not the best there is. Here’s why.
