Microsoft ditches Bing in favour of Baidu in China

Microsoft has entered into a partnership with China’s largest online search company Baidu that will see the latter’s search engine Baidu.com becoming the default homepage and search for the software giant’s Edge browser in Windows 10.

“Today, we’re excited to announce another partnership with a leader in China – Baidu,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Windows and devices vice president, in a blog post. “With over 600 million active users, Baidu is one of the most frequently used Internet gateways in China.”

The partnership will also make it easy for Baidu customers to upgrade to Windows 10 via the Chinese company’s new Windows 10 Express distribution channel. In addition, Baidu will also deliver Universal Windows Applications for Search, Video, Cloud and Maps for the latest Windows OS, Mehdi noted in the blog post.

It’s worth mentioning that Microsoft is already in partnership with some of the well known Chinese firms, including social networking and gaming company Tencent, internet security company Qihoo 360, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.

2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty: Ford’s All-New Big Truck Goes High Tech

When you ask a consumer what comes to mind when they think of Ford, “trucks” will likley be the first answer. Given the Ford F-Series has been the best-selling vehicle in America for decades, and looks poised to maintain that status, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. At Kelley Blue Book we’re tracking nearly 500,000 sales for the F-150 after eight months, while its closest competitor, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, is running at around 387,000 trucks. To put that number in perspective, the F-Series has sold more units this year than every Acura, Audi and BMW vehicle combined.

BlackBerry Venice leaks continue with new image, retail name reveal

The BlackBerry Venice has been the star of a number of leaks lately, including reports that suggest that it’ll launch on all four US carriers in November. Despite all of those leaks, though, we’ve never known what the Venice will be known as once it actually hits store shelves. That is, until today.

According to Evan Blass, the source of many BlackBerry Venice leaks in the past, the Venice will be known as the “BlackBerry Priv” when it launches later this year. Blass also shared a new render of the Priv that shows the device with its screen slid up and its physical keyboard exposed.

BlackBerry Priv certainly sounds like a strange name at first, but it’s not all that weird when you think about it. BlackBerry is all about security, and because “BlackBerry Private” might be an even weirder name, the company likely went with “BlackBerry Priv” as a way reference the security of its new Android phone, especially compared to other Android devices.

As far as specs go, so far it’s only been suggested that the Priv will sport an 18-megapixel rear camera. If the Priv is indeed slated for launch in November, though, we should get more details about BlackBerry’s Android slider soon. Stay tuned!
