El mercado de las tabletas inteligentes no está pasando por su mejor momento, sus ventas han disminuido considerablemente y las tasas de adopción también y esto es debido a que, en parte, los fabricantes han decidido lanzar teléfonos inteligentes con una pantalla grande. Si nos damos una vuelta por el mercado, veremos como la mayoría de smartphones no bajan de las 5 pulgadas de pantalla, e incluso hay algunos que superan dicha marca.
Esto hace que aquellas tabletas de 7 pulgadas que unos años atrás se vendían como churros, ahora no tengan casi necesidad e importancia alguna para el usuario y consumidor. Además, estamos viendo como, los Notebooks y Chromebooks están ganando mucha popularidad y, sus ventas se incrementan, dejando de lado a las tablets inteligentes.
¿ Entonces, ya no veremos más tabletas inteligentes ? No, ni mucho menos. Seguramente a partir de ahora, empecemos a ver otra vez estos dispositivos, pero su filosofía será diferente. Por poner un ejemplo, mañana Apple realiza un evento para presentar sus próximos dispositivos antes de que finalice el año, pues bien, en dicho evento, los de Cupertino, podrían anunciar un iPad Pro. Este iPad Pro, vendría a tener unas características muy superiores a los actuales iPad’s, llegando incluso a ser más potentes que un Macbook Air, teniendo un precio igual o inferior.
Eso si, los fabricantes saben que tienen que cambiar la filosofía y los desarrolladores de software también, por lo que podríamos ver, que ya lo estamos empezando a ver, una unión entre los sistemas operativos para las plataformas móviles y los sistemas operativos para la versión escritorio o versión para ordenadores. Dejando de lado este tema y volviendo a la noticia principal, vemos como Amazon podría presentar una nueva tableta inteligente.
Según un informe que procede del famoso diario Wall Street Journal, comenta que Amazon podría estar preparando el lanzamiento de una nueva tableta inteligente. Este dispositivo tendrá una pantalla de 6 pulgadas y vendría a entrar directamente a competir contra los dispositivos nombrados Phablets, además se rumorea que su precio sería de 50 dólares. Poca cosa más sabemos sobre esta tableta, nada de su hardware y si será o no, un dispositivo de alta gama o gama media o si correrá bajo Android o no.
Será curioso ver, si finalmente este rumor está en lo cierto, que estrategia tiene Amazon lanzando un producto de estas características, a qué tipo de público va dirigido y que ventajas tiene con respecto a otros dispositivos similares. Mobile data is getting faster and cheaper, while websites become more complicated. With that in mind Opera has updated the Opera Mini browser with a new “High” compression option. Despite its name, High actually uses less compression than the default mode of previous versions. That mode has now been renamed “Extreme.”
Extreme was the only mode Opera Mini had and white it gets you up to 90% data reduction, it can break more complicated web sites (change layout, how things look and other issues).
High mode renders pages as they would appear on a standard browser. Compression drops to around 50%, but that’s still enough to double the speed of a spotty 3G network or a sluggish Wi-Fi. High mode keeps the dynamic content and video playback that Extreme mode cuts.
The new version also includes the following improvements:
Private mode
UI for saved pages and bookmarks
Overhauled tab switching
Customizable layout
Support for high-res tablets and large phones
Better handling of big downloads in High mode
Opera still believes in Mini, pointing to India (where only half the population has access to a 3G network) and Indonesia (where half of users have daily connectivity problems). Opera aims to have 275 million users on Android by the end of 2017.

LinkedIn wants to be the place users discover emerging movers and shakers in business, and it’s branching into a new type of content for the task: original lists.
On Tuesday, the Mountain View, Calif.-based professional social network announced it is rolling out its first list, “Next Wave.” The list includes 10 individuals age 35 and under in 15 different industries, for a total of 150 professionals who are intended to represent the “next generation of business luminaries,” LinkedIn said. The list is part of a new content initiative by the network called “LinkedIn Lists,” which plans to feature a range of users or companies in a quarterly list derived in part from LinkedIn data. “Next Wave” highlights individuals in industries such as consumer and enterprise technology, healthcare, energy, finance, entertainment and retail and fashion.

Samsung can already be considered a veteran by smartwatch standards with a few generations of wearable products behind its back. The new Gear S2, however, represents the tech giant’s bold first step into the newer round watch market.
One of these clever new technologies that went into the new wearable is Samsung SDI’s free-form battery. As it appears, it was instrumental to fitting as much juice inside the Gear S2 as possible within the limited space.
In this case, the device is equipped with a 250 mAh free-form pack, which might not sound like much, but is a whole 50 mAh more than the 200 mAh that a rectangular battery would have allowed. At this scale the extra juice is vital and ensures what Samsung claims to be up to three full days of battery life.
Samsung SDI actually started work on the free-form project in December 2014 and made quick progress with a final version in April and mass-production in August. That is a truly impressive development cycle and it is always astonishing to see how fast industry leaders can push a concept all the way to an actual consumer product with tangible benefits to the user. So, even if the Gear S2 doesn’t turn out to be a grand market success, it does still represent a significant technological step forward.
