LG’s new wireless portable keyboard folds into an easy-to-carry stick

LG has developed what it is calling “the industry’s first solid rollable wireless portable keyboard.” Dubbed Rolly Keyboard, the device folds into a stick that you can easily carry in your pocket, purse, or briefcase, the company claims.

In its unfolded form, the keyboard is capable of connecting to two different devices at the same time via Bluetooth 3.0 – you can toggle between the devices by pressing a key. The device also has a couple of arms that fold out to support smartphones as well as tablets in an upright position. It is powered by a single AAA battery which LG claims gives up to three months of average use.

“LG Rolly Keyboard is just one of the many premium input devices we’ll be unveiling in the coming months as we expand our accessories offerings,” the company said. “The goal was to create a product that could add more value to LG smartphones and tablets at the same time offering a unique design proposition that hadn’t been explored before.”

The keyboard will be showcased at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin, and will be launched in the United States shortly thereafter. It will land in Europe, Latin America, and Asia in Q4 this year. There was, however, no word on…

Facebook M es la respuesta de Mark Zuckerberg a Google Now, Siri y Cortana

Facebook M

Evernote is pulling the plug on its Food app

Popular productivity app company Evernote has announced that it is killing off its Food app, which was released back in 2011 and allowed users to find and save recipes and click food photos.

“As of September 30th, we’ll no longer support Evernote Food for iOS and Android,” the company said in a blog post. “This means the apps will no longer be available for download and we won’t be making any further updates to them. It also means that features within the apps, including sync with the Evernote service, will no longer work.”

In addition, Evernote said that its core apps and Web Clipper are now capable of doing what Food did best: clipping recipes and snapping photos of meals. The company is also suggesting users to check out its App Center Food Collection that features Evernote-integrated food-centric…

Obi Worldphone entering the affordable Android battle with SF1 and SJ1.5

The battle for mobile dominance in emerging markets has heated up lately, and even Google has gotten in on the action with its Android One program. Now a new competitor has entered the fray.

Obi Worldphone is a new company that’s co-founded by John Sculley, who once worked as CEO of Apple. The company today introduced its first two smartphones, the SF1 and SJ1.5, which it says are targeted at “young consumers in high-growth markets” like Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, Pakistan, Turkey and India.

Pricing for the SF1 will start at $199, while the SJ1.5 will set buyers back $129. Here’s what the spec sheets for the two phones look like:

SF1

  • 5-inch 1920×1080 display with Gorilla Glass 4
  • 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615
  • 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and LED flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash
  • microSD slot
  • 3000mAh battery
  • 4G LTE
  • Android 5.0.2 beneath custom Lifespeed user interface
  • 2GB of RAM/16GB of storage for $199
  • 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage for $249
  • Fiberglass unibody construction

SJ1.5

  • 5-inch 1280×720 display
  • 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with OmniVision sensor and flash
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • microSD slot
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Android 5.1 beneath Lifespeed UI
  • 1GB of RAM/16GB of storage for $129
  • Polycarbonate body

The low-cost Android market is pretty competitive, with many major manufacturers and even more smaller ones all vying for consumers’ dollars. While Obi Worldphone is a newcomer, the company does have the whole “former Apple CEO is co-founder” thing going for it, and its first two phones aren’t too shabby looking. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how they fare in the handful of countries that they’re launching in.
