El Sony Xperia Z5 Compact está cada vez más cerca: Se filtran imágenes del dispositivo

Los últimos rumores apuntan a que Sony está preparándose para lanzar un nuevo rango de terminales durante el IFA del próximo mes de septiembre, y según podemos leer en Android Authority ya se ha filtrado una imagen promocional del Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, que se sitúa como sucesor espiritual de los Sony Xperia Z1 Compact y Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Esta filtración no ha hecho sino añadir expectación al próximo IFA y a la presencia de la firma japonesa en él.

Como podrás ver más adelante, el diseño del terminal recuerda al tradicional de la familia Xperia, especialmente en lo que se refiere a la situación del sensor de la cámara y del flash. Sin embargo, se han desplazado los botones de volumen y de encendido a posiciones algo más bajas.

Se dice que el Sony Xperia Z5 Compact incluirá un sensor de huellas en el botón de encendido, lo que puede ser una gran solución ergonómica para mantener el diseño más compacto. Podemos encontrar un diseño similar en los Honor 7i, que ya se han presentado junto con su cámara giratoria.

Otras rumores hablan de especificaciones como una pantalla de 4,7 pulgadas –exactamente el mismo tamaño que mi Sony Xperia M2, lo que no sé si es precisamente “compacto”, aunque esto ya es otra historia– FullHD, un SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 y 3 GB de memoria RAM.

De todo esto tendremos más información durante el próximo IFA de Berlín, pero estos no son los únicos datos que se han filtrado.

Otra filtración esquemática confirma el diseño

Mientras esperamos a que Sony de una confirmación oficial a todo lo que hemos expuesto algo más arriba durante el próximo IFA, también hemos podido ver una filtración de un diseño esquemático que prácticamente confirma la nueva situación de la botonera del terminal. Esta imagen ha sido filtrada por Ricciolo, un tuitero conocido por acertar en otras ocasiones con Sony.

En el dibujo podemos ver un terminal que conserva la forma del diseño OmniBalance de Sony que ya lleva varias generaciones en la familia Xperia Z, y está marcado con el nombre interno de E6XX.

El Sony Xperia Z4 exclusivo del mercado japonés tiene como número de modelo E6553, con lo que las siglas E6XX bien podrían ser el nuevo flagship de los japoneses. No han habido muchas filtraciones que acertasen o que pudiesen dar por seguro cómo iba a lucir el modelo o cómo iba a ser su diseño, así que podemos dar prácticamente por seguro que la existencia del Sony Xperia Z5 Compact se hará oficial durante el IFA.

Moto X Play might be headed to Verizon as the Droid Maxx 2

A lot of people were understandably upset when Motorola announced that the Moto X Play would not be sold in the US. However, it turns out that the Lenovo-owned company may not have meant what everyone thought it meant. Namely, it could just be that the Moto X Play won’t be offered in the US under that name.

Instead, it might be rebranded for Verizon and transformed into the carrier’s Droid Maxx 2. With its huge battery the Maxx title is certainly warranted, and there have been no hints so far that Big Red is going to drop the Droid line this year.

Alongside the Droid Maxx 2 (which will actually be the Moto X Play under another name), Verizon is also expected to launch the Droid Turbo 2 before the end of 2015. Whether this will turn out to be just a rebranded Moto X Style remains to be seen though.

This information comes from a Hong Kong-based leaker of all things Motorola-related, who has gotten certain things right in the past. Thus, while you should take all of it with a grain of salt, there is a chance, however small, for this to be real.

So you may just be able to purchase a Moto X Play in the US soon. That’s the good news. The bad news is that if this is accurate, Verizon will be getting it exclusively.

‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Beta Adds New Robot Specialist: The EWR

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta is underway, and the fast-paced, futuristic variant on classic Call of Duty gameplay is getting met with largely positive impressions, even if noobs like me are mostly getting new and exciting ways to get killed every five seconds. One the most interesting changes has been the introduction of the specialist system: something like the addition of character classes to the standard loadout, each one of which comes with a different super ability to give a little bit flair to the match. Activision announced a new specialist class today, which players will be able to play around with on PS4. It’s called the EWR, or experimental war robot,  a fun take on the futuristic scenario.

Nintendo 2DS Gets A Price Cut

Parents, take note: Nintendo just gave its funny little 2Ds machine a price cut, bringing it down from $129.99 to $99.99. That makes it one of the cheapest ways to enter the current world of video gaming, with one of the best, most well-developed libraries in the industry to boot. The 2DS represents the budget option in the growing 3DS family, which now includes the new 3Ds normal and XL, the 2Ds, and the legacy 3Ds’s. It cuts costs by eliminating the trademark glasses-free 3D, but that can actually be a selling point for parents of younger children that are worried about the effects of 3D technology on developing eyes. It looks a little bit like a piece of cake.

Next-gen Moto 360 gets photographed on people’s wrists

At its big event last month, Motorola announced three smartphones but no new smartwatch. Still, the company is quite clearly working on a successor to last year’s Moto 360, as has been revealed multiple times so far. The new wearable may even be offered in two different sizes, a la Apple.

Today a few images have been leaked showing the new model in the wild, on people’s wrists actually.

Although it bears quite a resemblance to its predecessor, including that ‘flat tire’ for the screen, this is the next generation Moto 360 – and you can tell because of the position of its button.

On the original this was placed at the 3 o’clock mark, while this time around Motorola’s moved it to 2 o’clock for whatever reason.

These shots allegedly come from around Chicago, an area in which Motorola has its US headquarters. So these may be company employees testing the device.

As before, it looks like Motorola will bet big on customization. These pictures show two different versions of the 360, an all-black one with leather strap, and another with a Rose Gold casing and Cognac band.

We could be quite close to the new smartwatch’s announcement now that it’s being internally tested.
