Verizon HTC One M9 will get an update with Android 5.1, Stagefright, and more starting August 20

Rejoice, Verizon HTC One M9 users, because your Android 5.1 update is nearly here.

HTC’s Mo Versi says that the Android 5.1 update for Verizon’s One M9 has been approved and that it’ll begin rolling out tomorrow, August 20. Along with Android 5.1, the update will include a Stagefright patch and will enable bands 3 and 7 for roaming.

Verizon One M9 owners have had to sit idly by and watch One M9 owners on other carriers enjoy Android 5.1 for several weeks now, but thankfully that’ll come to an end starting tomorrow. And while updates like these are typically staggered, meaning that not every Verizon One M9 owner will get it tomorrow, at least we know that the update is at least starting to go out.

‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Beta: This Game Is Going To Be Even Harder For People Like Me

Let’s get one thing straight: I’m not the audience for Call of Duty multiplayer. Call it a lack of skill, inclination, or just plain old “not being 14 anymore,” but that game stresses me out. I dabble, here and there, but mostly I spend my time getting blasted every five seconds, then trying some new strategy and getting blasted again. I’m decent at Destiny, with its slightly longer time to kill and blending with the PvE mode. but I’m a mess at the fast-paced world of Call of Duty. And with Call of Duty Black: Ops 3, that world looks like it’s getting even faster.

WhatsApp’s Web interface now finally works with its iPhone app

WhatsApp launched its Web interface back in January, but with one glaring omission: it hasn’t so far worked with its iOS app. That all changes starting today.

If you’re wondering why a Web interface for a messaging service has to work with the same service’s mobile apps, there’s a simple explanation. While you can use WhatsApp Web to read and send messages, these aren’t stored at a central location somewhere – they’re still on your phone, which is why the Web UI needs to communicate with the WhatsApp app on your handset in order to work.

And believe it or not, up until now this hasn’t been available for iOS. However, as you can see from the screenshot above, iPhone support has finally been added to WhatsApp Web.

In order to use the Web UI, you first need to make sure that the new “WhatsApp Web” option shows up for you in the Settings menu of the iOS app. If it does, then just head on over to web.whatsapp.com on your computer and follow the easy instructions for pairing with your phone (you basically just need to scan a QR code).

Do note that the functionality seems to be rolling out in a staged manner, so it may not be live for you just yet. But it is (finally) coming.
