Hoping to get ahead of Apple’s new hardware launch next month on September 9, Samsung announced on Thursday its next generation phone hardware: the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5. The upgrades bring a few hardware overhauls, but also offer a number of software tweaks to try to get Samsung to stand out more.

At the pre-brief for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ I was aware of the rumours surrounding the phones. The Note had been pretty comprehensively leaked, and most of the news seemed pretty standard. What came out of the meeting though was that the Note – which is a product I’ve used for years – has somewhat had its wings clipped.

I dislike Windows 10’s forced updates. It’s very simple: updates should be automatic, but the option to disable individual patches should exist if a buggy one is released like – say – this one or this one or this one, all in the last two weeks. But Microsoft clearly does not agree, because Windows 10’s forced updates just got scarier…
