The auto-play video ads that users see when they check their news feed have been a big money-maker for Facebook. Now, the social network is bringing auto-play advertisements and several new features to apps in its mobile ad network, giving Facebook more ways to expand its influence in the digital advertising market.
The auto-play ads and new features will be available to publishers and developers on the “Audience Network” on Apple’s iOS and Android, the company said in a post on Tuesday. The move gives Facebook the chance to sell more video ads to marketers without upsetting Facebook users by putting more ads on its own apps.

If you’re looking for a new low to mid-range smartphone on Verizon, you may be in luck. Verizon has just announced the availability of two new HTC smartphones on its network in the coming weeks, aimed squarely at the budget crowd.
The HTC Desire 526 features a 4.7-inch qHD display, a 1.1GHz Snapdragon 210 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with a microSD slot, an 8MP camera, and a 2000 mAh battery. It’s aimed at the lower end, but it does have 4G LTE connectivity, which is nice. It will be $120 full retail or $5 a month for 24 months and will be available on the 13th.
The HTC Desire 626 is a bit nicer, with a 5-inch 720p display, the same processor and RAM as the 526, 16GB of storage with a microSD slot, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 2000 mAh battery. It will be available in the coming weeks, but no price has been given.

Last month HTC unveiled a bunch of Desire-branded smartphones for the US market, at which point we found out that some of them would be headed to certain carriers in the country too, in addition to being sold unlocked.
And today one of those carriers has come forward and detailed its plans. Verizon has announced that it’s going to sell both the HTC Desire 526 and the Desire 626.
The Desire 526 will be exclusive to Big Red in the US, it turns out. It will come with a 4.7-inch 540×960 touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie cam, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC with a 1.1 GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU, 4G LTE support, and a 2,000 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with HTC’s Sense UI 7 on top.
This model will become available from Verizon on August 13. You’ll then be able to get it by paying the full $120 price, or opting for 24 monthly installments of $5 instead.
The Desire 626 will be launched by the carrier sometime “in the coming weeks”. Unfortunately its price hasn’t been announced yet, nor a release time frame that’s less vague.
When it does land, it will sport a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP main camera, a 5 MP secondary unit, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, the same chipset as the Desire 526, 4G LTE too, and the same battery capacity as its smaller sibling – 2,000 mAh. It also runs Android 5.1…

HTC RE, HTC’s quirky little camera accessory, is once again on sale at Best Buy. Instead of the regular $199 price tag, it’s significantly discounted to $99.99 right now. You have your choice of white, blue, and orange, all of which are on sale.
The HTC RE is a camera accessory with a 16MP sensor that relies on your smartphone to function as a viewfinder. You can take both photos and videos, including slow motion and time lapse videos. It’s neat, and significantly cheaper than a GoPro (though it serves a different purpose).
