Sony se pasa a Android puro: así luce “Concept for Android”, y te enseñamos a instalarlo

La semana pasada, Sony daba el pistoletazo de salida a su renovada capa de personalización. Lo hacía en Suecia, y solo estando disponible para 500 usuarios elegidos por la propia firma china, previo registro de los mismos en el programa. En ese momento, ya podíamos ver un par de capturas de este “Concept for Android”, como así lo ha bautizado Sony, que nos recordaban inmediatamente a Android puro, Android stock, Pure Google, o como queramos llamarlo.

Y es que efectivamente, la intención de Sony con la renovada Xperia UI es acercarse un poco más a ese tipo de capa, mucho más simple, limpia y ligera. Ahora, gracias a un usuario de XDA-Developers, podemos conocer mucho más a fondo a este nuevo software, que está basado en Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, es decir, la versión del sistema más reciente, con permiso de la Android M Developer Preview 2.

Análisis de la nueva Xperia UI de Sony

Como decíamos, de manos del usuario Jozinek, podemos disfrutar de un amplio análisis de esta nueva Xperia UI de Sony. A continuación, os dejamos con el vídeo, y tras el salto, con las conclusiones del usuario.

Tal y como afirma Jozinek, el software se comporta de una forma muy rápida y estable. Es algo similar a una mezcla entre AOSP con algunas apps de Sony, ya que hay aplicaciones personalizadas por el fabricante como la de música, y también se puede cambiar el tamaño de los iconos.

Cómo descargar e instalar “Concept for Android” de Sony

Para empezar, necesitamos sí o sí un Sony Xperia Z3, por el momento el único dispositivo para el que está disponible, aunque seguramente será cuestión de días que la comunidad se ponga manos a la obra para tratar de portarlo a otros terminales de Sony. Debemos tener en cuenta también que gran parte del software que encontramos habitualmente en la capa de Sony no está incluido, como los temas Xperia u opciones y modos de Sony, como por ejemplo Stamina o la grabación de pantalla.

Estos son los pasos a seguir para la instalación:

  • Copia de seguridad de tus datos, ya que se borrarán todo.
  • Descargar la última versión de Flashtool
  • Descargar “Concept for Android” para el Xperia Z3
  • Copiar el archivo FTF del paso anterior a la carpeta “Firmware” de Flashtool
  • Abrir la herramienta, click en “flash” y elegir el firmware descargado
  • Apaga el teléfono, y cuando se muestre una ventana en Flashtool, conectarlo al PC manteniendo pulsado el botón de bajar volumen
  • En unos minutos, el nuevo software debería estará instalado

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ confirmed to have 16 MP camera

The curved-screen phablet version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is apparently going to be unveiled on August 13 alongside the Galaxy Note 5. Recently we've heard that the Galaxy S6 edge+ will come with 4GB of RAM, as well as Samsung's own Exynos 7420 chipset – the same one found in the smaller Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.

And now it's time to find out some more about the camera inside the S6 edge+. This will be a 16 MP unit with a 1/2.6" sensor. This means the S6 edge+ will share yet another spec with its smaller siblings, since the cameras in the S6 and S6 edge feature the exact same hardware.

This information has been revealed because the camera module for the S6 edge+ has been imported into India a few days ago. And this means that Indian export tracker Zauba has caught it and created a record for it, as you can see from the screenshot above.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ is really shaping up to be nothing more but an oversized S6 edge, though the extra RAM will probably make it stand out – as will its size, obviously. It should have either a 5.5" or a 5.7" QHD Super AMOLED curved touchscreen.

Amazon and Google offering nice Chromecast deals

If you’ve been thinking about picking up a new Chromecast, Amazon and Google have offers on the little stick that might make you pull the trigger.

First up, Amazon is offering a free $10 Amazon gift card with the purchase of a Chromecast, which is $29.99. Simply add both the Chromecast and the gift card to your cart, and the cost of the gift card will be subtracted at checkout. This offer is valid through 11:59 pm PT on August 9.

The Google Store has a Chromecast offer of its own. If you buy two Chromecasts at once, Google will knock $15 off of your total. The Chromecast is $35 at the Google Store, so with this promo, your total will be $55.

Google will also give you a free Google Play move rental when you buy and set up a Chromecast by December 31, so that’s another bit of motivation to pick up a Chromecast.

Chromecasts can come in handy for getting content from your phone or tablet onto your TV, so it may not be a bad idea to take advantage of Google’s offer and outfit your home with Chromecasts. But if you really only need one, you could grab Amazon’s deal and get a gift card in the process. Because you know that you’ll eventually need to buy something from Amazon.

A piece of airplane that appears to match the missing MH370 jet that went missing in March 2014 was found on the island of Réunion, in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Madagascar. It is really is from that airplane, it is way far from where it was last spotted, near the southern tip of Vietnam.

La segunda generación del Moto 360 pasa por la FCC

Muchos esperaban que Motorola presentase durante el evento de ayer la segunda generación de su reloj inteligente, Moto 360. Pero sin embargo eso no fue así y habrá que esperar a otro evento paralelo para saber más sobre el futuro wearable del fabricante americano.

Motorola, durante el año pasado, fue uno de los fabricantes que mejor trabajo realizó en sus dispositivos. Hemos podido ver como los consumidores están muy contentos con sus terminales más flamantes de la compañía. Prueba de ello es ver como, la gama del smartphone de gama media, el Moto G, se ha convertido en uno de los smartphones más vendidos del 2014.

Pero además de Moto G y Moto X, Motorola presentó su primer reloj inteligente, el Moto 360. Un reloj inteligente que enamoró a todos, debido al gran diseño y las posibilidades que nos daba la herramienta Moto Maker, para poder personalizar el wearable a nuestro antojo. Pues bien, ayer podía haber sido el día de la presentación de la segunda generación del Moto 360, pero sin embargo, la compañía americana, decidió que todavía no es tiempo de presentar su futuro reloj inteligente.

De esta nueva generación hemos hablado anteriormente en el blog y ahora lo volvemos hacer ya que, el futuro wearable, ha pasado por las oficinas de la certificación FCC americana. Esto hace que, su lanzamiento sea muy próximo, por lo que no es de extrañar que Motorola aproveche el IFA de Berlín para presentar durante o días previos antes de la celebración de ese evento, para presentar la secuela del Moto 360.

Si echamos un vistazo rápido en la documentación de la certificación, vemos como el dispositivo contará con WiFi 802 y Bluetooth 4.0. Además se confirma que el reloj inteligente estará disponible en dos colores, blanco y negro, aunque habrá que esperar que opciones nos da Moto Maker para vestir a este nuevo smartwatch.

OnePlus will sell its USB Type-C cable for around $5

One of the novel features that the recently announced OnePlus 2 brings to the table is its USB Type-C port. This has already been embraced by certain laptops, such as Apple's new MacBook or Google's new Chromebook Pixel, and it's sure to spread to more smartphones in the future.

The problem with any such new interface is that it requires new cables. When you buy a OnePlus 2 you'll obviously get the necessary data / charging cable in the box, but if for some reason you want just the cable, you'll be able to order that too.

OnePlus has revealed that it will start selling the USB Type-C cable for around $5. This will happen three weeks or so after the OnePlus 2 launches on August 11. So towards the end of August you'll be able to go to the Chinese company's web store and order one of its red cables – with a USB Type-C connector at one end, and the well known USB Type-A plug at the other end. This is what people call 'normal size' USB so it will plug into anything with a USB port. The neat thing about OnePlus' cable is that it will be reversible at both ends.

Apparently the $5 price for the cable is either at or below cost for OnePlus, but the company still wants to get as many Type-C cables out there as possible.
