Earlier this month, Comcast announced that it is rolling out a $15 per month streaming service, Stream, that allows customers to watch live TV over the web. After Thursday’s second quarter earnings report, this move makes perfect sense.
Wall Street was shocked and surprised that Amazon.com reported a profit for the second quarter. The profit news — when Wall Street was expecting a loss — pushed the stock up more than 17% after hours and well above $500. That will easily eclipse Amazon’s all-time high of $493 if it holds on Friday.
Last week, a group of respected researchers published a commentary about the coming data challenges in genomics. Comparing the projected growth of genomic data to three other sources considered among the most prolific data producers in the world—astronomy, Twitter, and YouTube—these scientists predict that by 2025, genomics could well represent the biggest of big data fields. With the raw data for each human genome taking up about 100 GB, we’re well on our way.
Genomics only recently entered the big data realm, and we have major issues to address before it leapfrogs every other data-generating group.

Previous leaks had already revealed that the new Moto G would feature Moto Maker customization options, but it appears that the update to Motorola’s mid-range may actually have slightly more to customize than the Moto X.
While the page has since been taken down, the image below was captured while it remained up and outlines all of the color options for the Moto G (2015) as it is being called. Like the Moto X you will have the option of a white or black front and then a slightly more limited palate for the back with 10 options and an additional 10 accent color options. There are also 5 FlipShells available as an add on. Now where it gets slightly more interesting is the memory configuration which allows you to go with either 16GB storage and 2GB of RAM or 8GB of storage and presumably 1GB of RAM.
Naturally there is a new slogan to go with the newly customizable Moto G, “The new Moto G exactly the way you want it. Choose your front and back colors, storage and memory, and more.”
In the ever changing marketplace, one of the lone constants is the act of disruption —an invariably looming pressure arriving in many forms, from a devastating natural disaster to an experienced company hacker to an economic depression thinly veiled as a recession.
