A close look at Marshall’s gorgeous new London smartphone
A close look at Marshall’s gorgeous new London smartphone
From nowhere, Marshall leaked plans this morning for a smartphone called London, which it designed with all of the retro style and texture of one of its classic guitar amps. It’s a seriously cool look for a smartphone that no one else has really tried before.

Check out this beautiful Samsung Galaxy Note 5 360-degree render
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 crawled out of obscurity over the past few weeks and thanks to a couple of supposedly genuine renders, one coming from @onleaks, the other one courtesy of a casemaker, we now have a pretty complete picture of the upcoming top-shelf phablet. And while those renders may be right on the money, they stick to color schemes suitable for 3D modeling.
It's nice then that a bunch of people have put in the effort to make a more true to life rendition of the Note 5, based on the first render, and post it online. So we have the successor to the Galaxy Note 4 presented in white attire, ready for a 360-degree spin.
We enjoy the near bezelless look, but the array of sensors next to the earpiece draws way to much attention to itself, now that they're not mere circles, but actual contrasting cutouts. A dark colored Note 5 will mask them better probably, but then again it may not need to as they may end up being fewer and smaller if the casemaker's intel is more precise. The earpiece itself is perhaps a bit too fat as well, but that may also be subject to change.
Now, we're more than a little skeptical that the task switcher capacitive button on the left will sit higher than the back button, as the designers will have you believe, but that's likely an oversight. Either way, we may get to see the actual device unveiled as soon as August 12, so stay tuned.
Thanks to John for the…

For the record, attaching a firearm to a civil aircraft is, in the words of the FAA, “super illegal.” What’s scary is this thing seems to work reasonably well.

How One Website Is Convincing People To Pay For Cartoon Porn
After eight years of offering every form of aggregated hentai, a pornograhic subgenre of Japanese anime—Fakku.net is planning to make people pay.
Fakku CEO Jacob Grady, says the site is in the process of removing all unlicensed in preparation of its premium launch at the end of 2015. “I’ve always believed that creating a product worth spending money on would be enough to get people to support it,” said Grady, who launched Fakku from Worcester State University dorm when he was 19.
Now, Fakku is eschewing the free model that’s set it among the top 50 “adult” websites on the Internet, with more than 250 million visitors and 12 billion pageviews in 2014, in favor of partnerships with esteemed hentai artists for premium English-language content.
Grady believes that despite the Internet’s embarrassment of pornographic riches, Fakku.net’s fans will chip in $10 or so a month for subscriptions. The site is already testing the waters by offering porn book pre-orders in paperback and digital formats.
“A large portion of our users are already choosing to support our books,” said Grady in a Skype interview.

PaaS Vendors, Watch Out! Amazon Is All Set To Disrupt the Market
The Platform as a Service (PaaS) market is going through metamorphosis. A key driver of this change is the container revolution, led by Docker. Every PaaS vendor in the market has refactored its platform for containers. On the other hand, the combination of orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Mesos, and Docker, is becoming an alternative to traditional PaaS. The line between container orchestration and PaaS is getting blurred. For enterprises and decision makers considering PaaS, the current market landscape looks complex and confusing. Amidst all this chaos, one vendor who is quietly redefining PaaS is Amazon Web Services.
