In Strategy Switch, Online Language Learning Leader Ties Up With McGraw-Hill Education

McGraw-Hill Education made an equity investment and formed an exclusive marketing arrangement with busuu.com, both companies announced today.  According to the joint press release, busuu accepted a series B round of investment of €6 million or about $6.5 million for an undisclosed sized minority stake giving MHE “exclusive global rights to market busuu to B2B customers, including schools, private language institutions and corporations.”   MHE sited busuu’s “innovative mobile solutions” as part of what attracted them to the investment. Busuu’s previous funding consisted of angel funds plus a Series A of $4.6 million, according to CBInsights. Busuu is a major player in the online language learning space.  Founded in 2008, the company says  it has been adding as many as 100,000 users each day, with 55 million total.

Ya podemos disfrutar del primer análisis de la cámara del OnePlus Two

Cámara OnePlus Two vs iPhone 6+ vs Galaxy S6 vs LG G4

Apenas conocemos unos cuantos datos del nuevo OnePlus Two, que la firma china ha ido soltando a cuentagotas, pero ya ha salido a la luz el análisis de su cámara fotográfica, por obra del famoso analista tecnológico y youtuber Marques Brownlee, también conocido como MKBHD. OnePlus ha decidido así que conozcamos antes de tiempo las capacidades fotográficas de su próximo buque insignia, un terminal que según vuestros votos, estaríais dispuestos a comprar a pesar de que será más caro que el modelo original.

El OnePlus Two tendrá una cámara principal de 13 megapíxeles con apertura f/2.0, y hará gala de un auto-enfoque vía láser, similar al que vemos en las últimas ediciones de los tope de gama de LG. Así, OnePlus pretende meterse de lleno en la lucha de las cámaras, un terreno que desde luego es bastante complicado de dominar. La cámara es uno de los elementos más costosos en un smartphone, y prueba de ello es que, a medida que baja el precio, de los primeros recortes que se hacen son en este sentido.

A continuación, os dejamos el análisis de MKBHD, y a final del artículo os mostraremos los enlaces a las fotografías, en las que podemos ver comparada la cámara del OnePlus Two con la de su sucesor, así como frente a otros terminales tope de gama como el LG G4, el Samsung Galaxy S6, y el Apple iPhone 6 Plus. ¿Será capaz el OnePlus Two de superar a estas tres bestias de la fotografía?

Como conclusión, Brownlee asegura que las sensaciones con la cámara del OnePlus Two son buenas. El enfoque y la captura son muy rápidos, algo en lo que seguramente tenga mucho que ver el láser. Pero en términos de calidad, dice que la cámara del OnePlus Two no es la mejor que ha visto, anteponiendo al terminal chino otros dispositivos como el Samsung Galaxy S6, el LG G4, y algún otro. También deja claro que en su análisis, el software de cámara está en la primera versión, por lo que aún hay margen para mejorar en apartados como el procesado de imagen.

Por tanto, según esta review, parece que estamos ante una cámara correcta, aunque quizás un escalón por debajo de las cámaras de los principales smartphones del mercado. Evidentemente, aquí también entra en juego el precio de cada uno, pero eso es otro debate del que ya hablaremos en su momento…

Analysts expect big drop in Asus’ tablet shipments this year

Asus is expected to ship around 6-7 million tablets this year, according to a new report out of China which cites analysts. That's down a worrying 30% from the 9.4 million units the company shipped in 2014.

The report also says that the Taiwan-based company managed to ship around 2.5 million tablets in the first half of the ongoing year, which is down 39% year-on-year.

Quarter-wise, Asus shipped 1.5 million units in the first quarter and 1 million units in Q2 2015, although its goal was to ship 1.8 and 1.2 million units in the first two quarters, respectively. The report comes just days after the company's ZenPad S 8.0 tablet went on sale in the…
