This War of Mine, el juego de supervivencia bélica llega a tablets y Android TV

En los últimos tiempos, la industria de los vídeojuegos está viendo un cambio severo gracias a la introducción de las compañías indie, cuyo objetivo es ofrecer un excelente resultado poniendo mucho énfasis en los apartados artísticos, sonido y narrativa. This War of Mine es un claro ejemplo de ello, tras su éxito recogido en PC el pasado año, la compañía 11 bit Studios ha decidido lanzarlo en otras plataformas, como es el caso para Android.

Los vídejuegos “casual” son excelentes para entretenerse un determinado momento, pero si queremos ir más allá y adentrarnos en una profunda historia, este título te ofrecerá algo nunca visto.

This War of Mine: cada decisión cuenta en tu supervivencia

Tomamos el papel y control de nuestro personaje, un civil refugiado y afectado por la intensa guerra que está viviendo en la ciudad y tratar de evitar los peligros que acechan en cada esquina. El emplazamiento es un edificio abandonado, acompañado por otro dos civiles más que deberemos controlar y gestionar todas sus tareas en todo momento, sea de día o de noche.

Durante el día, los francotiradores estarán al acecho de nuestra presencia y nos impedirán salir de nuestro refugio. Por ello, es el momento idóneo para gestionar la comida, realizar el mantenimiento necesario y comerciar con nuestros compañeros para asegurar la supervivencia común. Una vez el sol deja de iluminar, es el momento perfecto para ocultarnos en la oscuridad y recoger provisiones y todo tipo de objetos para poder seguir con vida y mantener vivo el comercio de nuestros vecinos de refugio.

El juego es oscuro, triste, profundo y te transmite la desolación y el miedo de la guerra. No es fácil, ni mucho menos, pero sí debes tener presente que cada decisión cuenta –al igual que ocurre con The Walking Dead— y es determinante en el desarrollo de nuestra historia.

Sin duda, es uno de esos juegos que merece la pena tener y realizar la compra sin pensarlo, más aún si lo tienes disponible tanto en tablets como en Android TV, por el hecho de tener la posibilidad de disfrutarlo en una pantalla grande, sin ello la experiencia no sería igual.

lAC’s HomeAdvisor Is One To Watch In The Growing “Humans As A Service” (HaaS) Business

I have become recently fascinated with what some have referred to as “People as a Service”. Because “PaaS” was already taken as a tech acronym as “platform as a service”, I’ll call it “HaaS”, or “Humans as a Service”, for short. HaaS refers to the growing business of digitally mechanizing and monetizing people’s fractional time. The one’s you’ve heard about on a national level are Uber for rides, or if you live in Austin like me, Burpy for groceries or Favor for, well, any favor like picking up things at a restaurant or at nearly any store. One major HaaS segment, a huge one, is home repair and improvement. Right now the press has keyed in on the big guys like Amazon.com who is entering the space or the small upstarts like Thumbtack, backed by Google Capital, but I believe companies with an established track record like IAC’s HomeAdvisor are the most interesting ones to watch.  I had the chance to interview Chris Terrill, HomeAdvisor’s CEO, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about HomeAdvisor and why I think they are unique. A little background first.
