OnePlus 2 apparently got benchmarked today

The OnePlus 2 is due to arrive to eager fans sometime during the third quarter of this year, according to the company's CEO.

Before the official unveiling happens, though, it seems like a prototype of the device got put through the paces of Geekbench today. If this is indeed the OnePlus 2, then it's the first we've seen of it in benchmarks.

Although Geekbench lists its name as OnePlus One, the model number is different. The actual OnePlus One has the model name A0001, while this one is A2001. Furthermore, the MSM8994 board listed corresponds to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, which has been rumored to be inside the OnePlus 2. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, is powered by the Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974).

The processor inside the Snapdragon 810 definitely goes further than 1.55 GHz, so clearly this benchmark was performed with a cap at that speed. Geekbench correctly lists eight cores for the CPU.

The only other thing we learn about the OnePlus 2 from this is that it will have 3GB of RAM just like its predecessor. That may perhaps be disappointing to people who expected it to take advantage of the fact that the Snapdragon 810 is a 64-bit chipset and boast 4GB of memory.

The OnePlus 2 prototype currently runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. That said, the finished product will almost certainly not ship running Cyanogen OS like its predecessor. In its place we're bound to find OnePlus' own Oxygen OS, also based on Android of course.

The next OnePlus flagship could cost around $400. A more affordable handset is also in the pipeline, and should get a release by the end of this year.

Samsung ha vendido 10 millones de Samsung Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge, menos que sus predecesores

Hace poco os informamos que las ventas de los nuevos miembros de la familia Galaxy S en tierras japonesas no iban bien. Ahora según el medio de comunicación de Corea del Sur Yonhap News, nos hemos enterado que tanto el Samsung Galaxy S6 como el Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge acaban de superar las diez millones de unidades vendidas. Y es una mala noticia.

¿Por qué es una mala noticia? Si tenemos en cuenta las fechas, el Samsung Galaxy S4 tardó 27 días en conseguir esta cifra de ventas mientras que el Samsung Galaxy S5 tardó dos días menos en llegar los 10 millones de unidades. Viendo que el Samsung Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge llegaron al mercado el pasado 10 de abril, los números no cuadran.

Según el diario coreano ha sido un alto funcionario de Samsung quién ha anunciado que se han superado los 10 millones de Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge vendidos, aunque no ha especificado la fecha exacta en la que llegaron a esta cifra.

Pero si realmente ha tardado 40 días en llegar a los 10 millones de unidades vendidas las cosas están claras: el ritmo de ventas del Samsung Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge está siendo más que decepcionante. Y eso que inicialmente pintaban muy bien las previsiones del fabricante con sede en Seúl.

No es ningún secreto que la división de móviles de Samsung no está pasando por su mejor momento, sobretodo por la grandísima acogida que tuvieron los nuevos iPhone 6 y iPhone 6 Plus del fabricante con sede en Cupertino.

Si bien es cierto que tanto el Samsung Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge son dos grandes terminales, la nueva gama de terminales de Apple sigue rompiendo récords de ventas trimestre tras trimestre. Pero, si son tan buenos los nuevos terminales de Samsung, ¿por qué no se refleja este hecho en las ventas? La respuesta está en la falta de terminales.

Samsung arriesgó al lanzar el Samsung Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge sin ranura para tarjetas micro SD. Aunque hay varios modelos con diferentes configuraciones, muchos mercados han recibido tan solo las unidades con 32 GB de almacenamiento, además de no estar disponibles toda la gama de colores que presentaron en la pasada edición del Mobile World Congress.

Habrá que esperar a tener las primeras cifras oficiales pero, viendo que Samsung no ha informado todavía de ninguna novedad en cuanto a cifras de ventas, podemos suponer que las ventas del Galaxy S6 y S6 Edge no van tan bien como esperaban inicialmente.
