El HTC One (M8) no recibirá Android 5.1 Lollipop y Sense 7 hasta agosto, ¿y el M7?

Cuatro meses serán los que tendrán que esperar los usuarios del HTC One (M8) que quiera ver oficialmente Android 5.1 Lollipop y HTC Sense 7 en su terminal. Así lo ha confirmado HTC UK, en respuesta a un tweet de un usuario que seguramente esperaba una contestación en esta línea.

Agosto (de este mismo año, por si hay dudas), es el mes señalado en el calendario de HTC para actualizar su penúltimo smartphone estrella, lugar que ahora ocupa el nuevo HTC One M9, que ya hemos analizado en profundidad, y que lógicamente, debería recibir dicha actualización bastante antes que su antecesor.

Eso sí, para el que no hay fecha, y ni tan siquiera confirmación oficial de que sí se actualizará, es para el HTC One original, el M7. Como recordaréis algunos de vosotros, hace poco más de un mes, la compañía taiwanesa afirmaba que solamente el HTC One Google Play Edition se actualizaría a Android 5.1 Lollipop, por lo que la versión con Sense llegaría al final de su soporta oficial con Android 5.0.2. Sin embargo, tras las numerosas quejas, y para alegría de muchos, la empresa comunicaba horas después que entendía las quejas, y nos invitaba a seguir atentos a novedades en este terreno. Esto, desde luego, deja al menos una ventana abierta a la esperanza.

Sea como sea, y aunque aún quedan unos cuantos meses, esperamos que la tardanza merezca realmente la pena, y que Android 5.1 Lollipop junto a HTC Sense 7 se comporte igual de bien que viene siendo habitual en los smartphones de la compañía, que nos tiene acostumbrados a un gran trabajo de optimización del sistema, y un apartado estético del software muy logrado.

ZTE Nubia Z9 spotted on TENAA with crazy specs

ZTE revealed two models under the Nubia brand a month ago, the Nubia Z9 Max and Z9 mini. Meanwhile the true flagship Nubia Z9 remains unannounced, and that is expected to change on May 6, when a launch event is scheduled.

The Nubia Z9 hasn't exactly been kept a secret though and showed up on a number of occasions sporting a near-bezelless design and a metal frame for enhanced durability. But while there was also some consensus on the specs, a new listing by Chinese regulator TENAA dropped the bomb claiming some unbelievable hardware.

The device, carrying a model number NX508J, is said to come with a CPU clocked at a whopping 3.5GHz. It doesn't stop there, and RAM is quoted to be the unheard of 8GB.

The Nubia Z9 was previously said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 810, which comes with Cortex-A57 cores, clocked at 2GHz, and Cortex-A53 cores, clocked at 1.5GHz, in an octa-core big.LITTLE configuration. Looking back to the Nubia Z9 Max, which was already confirmed to sport the S810 and is listed on TENAA with 3.5GHz CPU, you could conclude that the regulators have simply added up the clock speeds of both sets of cores.

Little explanation can be found in the amount of RAM though. In the datasheets, available online, it's not explicitly stated if Qualcomm's chip supports the 8GB, but we're also wondering if there's any actual practical sense in it at this point in time. What sounds most likely is that it's an error on the TENAA part.

A few other discrepancies with the specs established so far come in the camera department, where an 8MP/8MP duo is quoted in the listing. Both the Z9 Max and Z9 mini come with a 16MP main camera, and the Nubia Z9 is unlikely to be a step back. It's also not a dual rear camera arrangement as the accompanying images clearly show.

The microSD slot has also been dropped in favor of 32GB of internal storage, as opposed to the 16GB of the other two models. Another thing to point out is that display size is listed as 5.15 inches, which goes in line with the rumors of 5.2 inches, but resolution is quoted to be FullHD, and not QHD, as previously believed.

Obviously, a lot of questions remain unanswered, but with a launch date less than a week from now, the mysteries will soon be cleared.

HTC to release Limited Edition One M9 with INK engravings

HTC has launched a new campaign dubbed HTC INK to offer limited edition One M9 smartphones. By teaming up with the supermodel Jourdan Dunn, the Taiwanese company will offer custom-designed engravings inspired from tattoos.

Jourdan has collaborated with the Cally-Jo Apothecary, a celebrity tattoo artist, to come up with a new design. One of their first design has been shared already with a rather vague explanation.

The open hand and eye symbolize the need for protection and strength while still being open and approachable in personality and style. The natural leaf elements and patterns around the outside of each visual reflect the growth in creativity that Jourdan is feeling at this time, and the sun and moon together represent balance and harmony in her character.

HTC plans to offer limited edition HTC INK One M9 units with unique designs engraved by hind. HTC INK project is yet to specify if it is a one time, seasonal thing or will be an ongoing like Apple’s Project Red that aims to aid in fighting aids in Africa.

El ZTE Nubia Z9 pasa las certificaciones de la TENAA y se filtran sus especificaciones

El ZTE Nubia Z9 –del que nosotros ya adelantamos una filtración anterior– se presentará oficialmente el día 6 de mayo. Algunas características se han filtrado, como por ejemplo el cuerpo sin marcos laterales de pantalla que ya conocíamos.

Además de esto, se incluirá otra característica que la empresa ha dado en llamar Fringe Interactive Technology o FiT, que permitirá a los usuarios ajustar el volumen del terminal o el brillo de la pantalla, e incluso cambiar entre aplicaciones activas, deslizando dos dedos por los bordes de la pantalla.

Esta mañana hemos sabido que el ZTE Nubia Z9 ha pasado por las certificaciones de la TENAA. Normalmente la información que sale de sus oficinas en cuanto a especificaciones suele ser bastante precisa, pero la información en este sentido que estamos viendo con respecto al ZTE Nubia Z9 revela que o bien alguien cometió un error transcribiéndolas, o bien se trata del teléfono más potente que existe hasta la fecha.

Las especificaciones del terminal hablan de un grosor de 8,9 mm y un peso de 180 gramos. También, y siempre según lo filtrado por TENAA, el teléfono incorporará una pantalla de 5,15 pulgadas con una resolución de 1080 x 1920. Hasta ahora es algo que ya hemos visto en otros terminales, pero a partir de aquí es cuando las cosas empiezan a ponerse raras.

Según la hoja de especificaciones de la TENAA, el ZTE Nubia Z9 tendrá una CPU octa-core con una velocidad de 3,5 GHz y la apabullante cantidad de 8 GB de memoria RAM. Lo más probable es que esto sea un error como dijimos antes y que la velocidad del procesador sea de 2,5 GHZ, así como que la memoria RAM se sitúe en torno a los 3 ó 4 GB, lo que sería más realista, aunque hasta que no se confirme nada…

El terminal ofrece también dual SIM, cámaras delantera y trasera con sensores de 16 y 8 megapíxeles respectivamente y una batería de 3000 mAh para alimentarlo. Android 5.0 Lollipop será su sistema operativo por defecto y el teléfono ofrecerá soporte para GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDDy WCDMA.

El ZTE Nubia Z9 está cada día más cerca de su presentación, y en cuanto sus detalles se revelen intentaremos traerte toda la información oficial.
