Android 4.4.4 KitKat is now seeding to Samsung Galaxy S5 for AT&T over-the-air. The new OS build brings a number of features to the SM-G900A headed by support for VoLTE.
Security updates, bug fixes, and other improvements are also part of the update. HD voice capability, AT&T service additions, and preinstalled Uber app round up all the highlights.
Considering that Samsung Galaxy S5 for Verizon Wireless began receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop yesterday, we find it it a tad surprising that its AT&T sibling lags so far behind with the OS updates. Here’s hoping that the SM-G900 won’t stay with Android 4.4.4 for too long.

ARM announced a trio of high-end components, which are bound to be part of the next generation of mobile chipsets. The brand-new ARM Cortex-A72 CPU, Mali T-880GPU, and the CoreLink CCI-500 interconnect will feature in top-shelf mobile devices in 2016.
The 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU is going to be the successor of the Cortex-A57. The newcomer is 3.5x faster than the Cortex-A15 generation, yet it consumes the same amount of energy. Cortex-A72 will use 75% less power than 2014 Cortex-A15 devices under similar workload.
In order to ease the implementation of the new chip, ARM has made its compatible with the latest TSMC 16nm FinFET+ process. The CPU will offer extended performance and efficiency when combined with Cortex-A53 CPU in ARM big.LITTLE setup.
The Mali T-880 GPU on the other hand, will offer 1.8x the performance of the currently available Mali T-760, yet it will consume 40% less energy. The GPU is developed with premium 4K content in mind
The CoreLink CCI-500 interconnect will enable power-sipping big.LITTLE processing thanks to an integrated snoop filter. The component will offer twice the peak memory system bandwidth with 30% increase in processor memory performance over the CCI-400 it is bound to replace.
ARM has already teamed up with a number of partners, which will utilize the new components. They include MediaTek, HiSilicon, and Rockchop among others….

OnePlus, fundada el 17 de diciembre de 2013, es una startup que comenzaba a sonar con más fuerza entre marzo y abril de 2014, aunque se mostraba con cierta timidez y secretismo. Con esto conseguían atraer la atención de usuarios que actualmente ya se cuentan por miles, pues el hype iba in crescendo a cada nuevo rumor o nuevas pistas que la propia compañía iba soltando, y que insinuaban tener en el horno una auténtica revolución para el mercado móvil.
Finalmente, el 23 de abril era presentado de forma oficial el OnePlus One, primer producto de la empresa, que efectivamente revolucionó parte de este mercado, al tratarse de un smartphone con características de tope de gama, pero sin embargo, su precio no iba acorde, ya que era mucho más cercano al de un gama media que al de los flagships del resto de compañías.
De esta forma, el OnePlus One se convertía automáticamente en un objeto de deseo para muchísima gente, pero no todo iba a ser tan bonito como parecía, pues había un importante problema. Como buena empresa de reciente creación, no disponían de lo necesario para atender a la gran demanda que se les avecinaba, aunque ellos, a sabiendas de que ocurriría, ya estaban preparados.
Así nacía el famoso sistema de invitaciones de OnePlus One que, lógicamente, no gustó demasiado al personal, pero era la única solución posible. Para comprar el phablet, los usuarios deberían estar en posesión de una invitación, la cual se podía conseguir de distintas formas. Aunque al principio eran escasas, con el paso de los meses, las invitaciones fueron aumentando, por lo que finalmente, todos o casi todos los que deseaban comprar un OnePlus One, pudieron hacerlo. Hoy en día todavía es más fácil, pues también se pueden encontrar con relativa facilidad en distintas tiendas online.
Esos eran los comienzos de OnePlus, que como suele ocurrir, han sido bastante duros. Ahora, la fabricante ha querido mostrarnos a través de una interesante infografía cómo ha sido el final de ese 2014, su primer año de vida en un negocio tan movido como es el de la telefonía móvil.
