Most of the data and analytics systems being used today were not built to handle the volume and variety of information now available. That situation causes many organizations to adopt a limited big data solution rather than developing a comprehensive strategy. Consequently, the tendency has been to focus on solving one problem at a time, which causes data to be separated into silos and massively duplicated.
