When General Motors announced at the International CES in January 2016 that it was investing $500 million in ride-hailing service Lyft, part of the rationale was to jointly develop a mobility-on-demand service using autonomous vehicles. It now appears the first manifestation of that plan could happen as soon 2017. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that GM and Lyft will deploy a public pilot test of self-driving Chevrolet Bolt EV taxis within the next year.
