Why do we explore Fallout 4’s Wasteland? Why do we choose to leave whatever relative safety we find and pit ourselves against raiders, super mutants, shadowy conspiracies and all of the other dangers of a post apocalyptic nightmare? The simple answer, in Fallout 4’s case, is that we’re looking for our kidnapped son, but we all know this is only, at most, 1/4 of it or so. It certainly doesn’t explain 90% of the crap I do in this game. The real reason is get to stuff. Guns, brooms, cleaners, desk fans, whatever: stuff. We do it because we want it. And one the game’s rarest pieces of stuff, as it turns out, is available in the tutorial area of the game. It’s the Cryolator, and it’s one of the best guns you can find.
