The Xbox One launch, as we all know by this point, could have gone better. Microsoft has done it’s best to recover from its damaging dalliances with always-connected and restrictive DRM. But Sony pounced, and the ascendant PS4 came to dominant the current-gen market. It was a bold gambit on Xbox One’s part, and it failed. One does wonder how they missed it in the first place. Geekwire recently caught up with former Xbox head Robbie Bach, author of the new book Xbox Revisited: A Game Plan For Corporate and Civic Renewal. He generally had nice things to say about Xbox and consoles in general, but he did provide one big pull quote when he implied that Microsoft should have seen the Xbox One’s launch failure a mile away. Here’s what he said when Geekwire asked him about the whole debacle:
