Chipotle Delivery Option Coming To 40 U.S. Colleges Via Tapingo In The Fall

Chipotle Mexican Grill — the popular burrito restaurant chain — will be offering a delivery option to over 40 college campuses in the U.S. this fall. The Chipotle delivery option is made possible through a partnership with food delivery app company Tapingo. And Chipotle delivery through Tapingo will be expanding to over 100 college campuses by spring 2016. Tapingo generally charges between $1.99 and $4.99 for delivering food.
“Tapingo, which has been well received by students where its services are available, knows how to connect with these younger customers. That shared acceptance among younger customers made them a great choice for us to expand delivery aimed specifically at students,” said Chipotle’s chief creative and development officer Mark Crumpacker in a statement.
Chipotle’s partnership with Tapingo extends its ability to deliver food. Earlier this year, Chipotle started offering food delivery service through Postmates and OrderUp across major cities in the U.S. for a cost of between $4.99 and $7.99 per order depending on the distance. However, Chipotle’s partnership with Tapingo is the restaurant’s first college-focused delivery option. Chipotle is already available in six schools, including: Arizona State University, California State University Chico, Louisiana State University, University of Arizona, University of Southern California and Northern Arizona University.
