[Long] A possible fundamental problem with Minecraft’s progression and what Mojang could do about it.

EDIT: I feel like the main point I'm saying here is, survival mode as a gamemode is flawed (from my perspective). After collecting everything and have farms for everything, it just becomes a more time-consuming creative mode. If I could go back I would mention that this is mainly about survival mode. Survival mode is really, for me at least, about the thought of improving your living situation, which the max barrier of which is really low. (Enchanted diamond armour, elytra, farms.) END EDIT

Sorry if this comes off as a rant, I really don't want to offend or upset anyone I just want to put my two cents in this game's future.

As a veteran minecrafter, I was always excited when the devs posted a new structure or something that was being added into the game. (I lost my mind when I saw those first images of strongholds 😀 ) But now days it just feels like, eh.

Up until around release, everything had a purpose, except maybe villages, nether forts had warts and blazes, dungeons had spawners and strongholds were said to have important stuff coming, which was the end. But now I feel like theres almost no point or magic to find a structure, desert temples and jungle temples will give you the same mostly mediocre loot.

I think the main problem is that no new stuctures other than end cities, which I will get into later, have no exclusive items. Which is a big problem, whats the point of looking for an igloo if I'm just going to get maybe a name tag and a a few diamonds. This is made even worse with the ever controversial AFK fishing huts (that's a debate for another time).

At the moment the game is really broken into a few main parts.

  • Wooden/Stone Tools
  • Iron Tools
  • Farm Building
  • Diamond Tools
  • And then infinite sandbox.

This is further made even more linear by the fact that, lets face it, minecraft has pretty bad bosses. The wither's AI feels incredibly basic in that it flys towards you and tries to blow you up. Up until recently the enderdragon was a complete joke and even is still too easy.

We should be able to find super rare non generating ores in temples that make special armours to help defeat bosses. Imagine a spore armour set you get from the jungle temples that allow you to breathe in the end. It would make the end much more challenging and fun. Maybe even a heat resistant set you find in desert temples that allows you to the enter the Nether without getting, maybe a hunger debuff?

I feel like it would be an amazing edition to the game if we got things like this, make progression harder to achieve so the game has more unique experiences everytime you load a world, spending your first 3 hours finding diamond then setting up a base then slaying bosses gets boring.

End cities were a great idea, an interesting and unique challenge that provides the most effective means of locomotion in the game! How brilliant is that, now only if other structures had those. Frost walker should be exclusive to igloos, not fishing. Mending would be a great thing you maybe get from guardians. As well as sponges… :3

This game is precious and I want nothing but good for it, so this is my opinion on what may need to be done. Thoughts and opinions are welcome, I'm all ears!
