Guatemala is known for its volcanoes – some too violent for even the most dedicated volcanologists to go near. Researchers and engineers from the Universities of Cambridge and Bristol flew fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to observe and measure eruptions in their place.
