[Rant] Why Mojang intentionally down-plays their content.
According to an interview I have recently read with Jeb, the Mojangsters are limiting themselves in their content they provide each release. Now, their reasoning of not not wanting to bog-down & over-flood the community with so much that they feel disheartened towards their own creation is admireable.
BUT THEY'RE DOING THE OPPOSITE.
Mojang is under-flooding the community of content, and from what I see, the community is dwindling from the disinterest they're seeing in the Dev team.
They see them taking an idea and only developing a small amount of concepts withs it, apparently "hearing" the community, yet largely ignoring their suggestion, and being nearly silent online.
There is so much more to be had with these ideas they develop… that if they keep witholding them, their interests will dwindle & dry out before their content does. Every update has a plethora of genuinely simple ideas they could toss in, concocted specifically towards that update, that get lost and rarely ever see the light of day again.
The fact of them having new ideas to go with the game, but only utilizing a fraction of it to save on update material later, will never work. The community will dwindle, and the dev team with grow apathetic towards it, if they keep the pace they're at now.
This post was not meant to dishearten, but to rally players to beg Mojang to not limit their own scopes for this widely- incredible game of theirs.
Mojang, if you are reading this, please, take note of the relationship you have with your Minecraft community… and please… don't forget about us.
