Intel held their 1st “AI Day” and announced the Nervana Engine and their portfolio for Deep Learning. Their intent is to leapfrog GPUs with an ASIC that is purpose built for the fast-growing market for Artificial Intelligence, saying that their new chips will be 100 times faster than GPUs.
