Paint’s Better Loot Tables: Cleaning the junk out of treasure chests, and bringing some of Minecraft’s half-implemented features into the game. Perfect for Minecraft 1.11!

No more rotten flesh, bones, sand or beetroot seeds hogging up precious lootspace in your treasure chests. Some more mob drops, some tweaks to fishing (Who put lily pads in the treasure section?), and a big scavenger hunt for the otherwise-unattainable mob heads. It's objectively better in every way!*
* According to me
Chests
For a deeper insight, you can look at the .json yourself. These items will appear in regular mossy cobblestone dungeons.
desert_pyramid and jungle_temple:
End_Cities: Basically the same, except shulker shells instead of beetroot seeds. There's a fair chance to get books that are specifically Mending too.
Stronghold Library: Just quality enchanted books, nothing else.
Bonus chest: A book and quill is generated 100% of the time, so you can journal your minecraft experience.
There are a few more but you get the idea. Better stuff. No junk.
Mobs
You may find some things drop things they didn't drop before, for example TNT is now a rare drop for creepers. You may find that some things just drop slightly more than before, for example cows leather (which now drops 100% of the time), and shulker shells (which can now be increased with looting). There's a list of some of the boring details in the comments.
Fishing
Fish: You have a small chance to catch two blue fish or salmon instead of one, which increases with luck.
Junk: Lily pads and feathers are now junk.
Scavenger Hunt for the Mob Heads
I have hidden 34 mob heads in this loot table. There are three ways to obtain them:
- For most mob heads: You can collect these mob heads from their corresponding mobs if they are NOT killed directly by the player, meaning you'll have to get a bit creative. (If you use TNT, it only works if you use redstone to ignite it, not with a flint and steel).
- From fishing: Grab a luck-of-the-sea fishing rod and get to the waters!
- From some chests: You are much more likely to find a mob head if you are affected with luck.
The complete list of mob heads are:
- Alex head (Exception: Must be found in abandoned mineshaft chests).
- Blaze head.
- Cave Spider head.
- Chicken head.
- Cow head.
- Creeper head.
- Dragon head (Exception: Drops from an ender dragon every time).
- Elder Guardian head.
- Ender Eye head (Exception: Needs to be found in End City chests).
- Enderman head.
- Evoker head.
- Ghast head (Have fun with this one!).
- Iron Golem head.
- Guardian head.
- Magma Cube head.
- Mooshroom Cow head.
- Ocelot head.
- Pig head.
- Polar Bear head.
- Pufferfish head (Exception: Needs to be fished).
- Red fish head (Exception: Needs to be fished).
- Sheep head.
- Shulker head.
- Skeleton skull (Exception: 20% chance instead of 100%, otherwise there'd be loads of skulls on the ground every morning).
- Slime head.
- Spider head.
- Squid head.
- Steve head (Exception: Needs to be found in mossy cobblestone dungeons).
- Turtle head (Exception: Needs to be fished).
- Villager head.
- Wither skeleton skull (Exception: Doesn't need to not be killed by a player).
- Wolf head.
- Zombie head (Exception: 20% chance instead of 100%, otherwise there'd be loads of zombie heads on the ground every morning).
- Zombie Pigman head.
Happy hunting!
Thanks to MC tools for making this a million times easier, and to Minecraft Heads for their contribution. Practical feedback is welcome, I intended to update it for Minecraft 1.12 to correct any mistakes and to take into consideration whatever new things pop up (Someone make a Vex head!). See you then!

Unzip the file you just downloaded and put it into the data folder of your world. If you have the world open on a client, you'll have to re-log for your changes to take effect, or restart the server if it's a multiplayer deal.
