An explosion on the old Colonial Pipeline killed one worker and injured five others Monday in rural Alabama close to the same spot where the same pipeline burst in September, leaking almost 15 million gallons and causing gasoline shortages across the South. We are completely dependent on pipelines to transport our oil and gas, so it is inevitable that we will build more pipelines with, hopefully better and better technologies, but we also must better maintain the ones we have, eventually completely replacing them.
