The safety of autonomous trucks will remain a question mark for some time, but there’s a way to speed their implementation. Separated highway toll lanes for driverless trucks would provide them with a simpler, safer operating environment, while cutting highway congestion, raising funds for the needed infrastructure and providing a quicker solution to a worsening driver shortage.
