Do The Right Thing: A Minority Founder’s Thoughts On Diversity

If you visit this blog regularly, you’ve read about the challenges I face in hiring for my New Orleans-based edtech startup. I struggle to find skilled engineers. I struggle to find strong salespeople. Indeed, I struggle to find qualified employees of all stripes. But perhaps my biggest struggle is hiring for a diverse workforce, one that accurately reflects the racial and gender demographics of our country.  As a black founder (Born in Jamaica, raised in Brooklyn), it is particularly important to me that people that look like me have a seat at the tech table, arguably the fastest growing sector of the US economy.
