South Korean tech giant Samsung said Tuesday that it would permanently stop production and sales of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after a spate of battery-related explosions and fires. It also warned anyone using the device to turn it off. The heat has been rising steadily for Samsung and the warning sent its shares tumbling 7.5 percent on Tuesday, the company’s biggest daily percentage decline since 2008.
