Perhaps It’s Time To Stop Listening To Music On A Phone Now That Astell & Kern AK70 Player Is Here

There’s been so much chatter about Apple’s decision to remove the headphone socket from the iPhone 7 that it set me thinking about how I listen to music and what I want from my music on the move. I’m sure the iPhone 7 will be another success for Apple but the idea of using Lightning Connector headphones really doesn’t cut much ice with me. The earphones Apple is bundling with the iPhone 7 don’t feature an inbuilt DAC and amplifier. In fact, Apple’s standard Lightning headphones will simply be taking a conventional analogue feed from the iPhone’s DAC and passing it through the Lightning port instead of through the headphone socket. And let’s not remember that Apple still doesn’t have support for Hi-Res music yet.
